He PLAYED it smart...Thats it...Vargas does have more balls and heart why????Cause of his heart....His heart and Passion to win didnt allow him to quit..Me as a person as an individual dont give up till the end no matter what...Vargas career was ended cause he wasnt handled right....Iron boy he is irrevelant to this conversation...For a person to quit because he feels like he cant win is a cowards way out...If you fight someone and they bust you in your eye and say **** that you hit hard im out ill just fight you another day...WTF does that look like to you....

I will say this Cotto is a warrior....But his heart is questionable...For you to say he played it smart....Thats that fighter...Sometimes your heart wont allow you to do that...Why because some men have pride that wont allow them to make the right decision..Your heart is more powerful than your mind....

I saw the Vargas fight twice, and Cotto/Marg a few times now.
Yea, I can understand picking "both", but if I HAD to pick one:

Much credit to Fernando for getting up, quickly adapting, and pressing forward. Although, I'd have to gear towards Cotto on this one.

From round 2 on Marg was taking Cotto's best shot's, which this alone must've been mentally defeating when he was landing them so accurately,
EACH ROUND he was unable to stop Marg from smothering his punches - very frustrating, Miguel had NO OPENINGS for body shots, which is what he bases alot his victory on - a no-body shot fight I'm sure took him into an unfamiliar realm, not to mention midway through the fight his breathing was affected by the broken nose - even if this was NOT one of the elite that he was fighting, the breathing would've been quite a hurdle to get over, but in the midst of all this adversity, he kept reacting full force with accurate punching, good footwork, he did little to no holding, took his knock out on his feet, made NO EXCUSES afterwards, and says he's not done with Margarito. WOW

...that's heart and courage.

(Not to take anything away from Fernando though.)

Both showed a lot of heart. Vargas didn't run and still made it to the last round, that's why I picked him. Of course that doesn't mean much though.

This is a ****en ****** question (no offense) both showed good heart. But with all respect to cotto this is a no brainer. You asked WHO showed more heart. The answer to that is easy, FERNANDO VARGAS. Vargas was down how many times? and each time got up and went back to war. Cotto in the other hand was to scared to go down by a punch so he took a knee, got up got hit a couple times backed into the corner and took another knee and quit. Where's the comparison here. Even with the last knock down vargas got up and wanted to continue. Sorry i sound so angry but there is no comparison here on who showed more heart. Not to mention vargas was taking those shots from probably the hardest hitting WW or jr. middleweight this sport has ever seen.

Vargas showed more heart in my opinion.. plus he got low blowed hella times and almost had the fight. cotto outboxed marga early but after he started soaking in some punishment he started running a little bit
