and those 10 people that text you probably can't tell the difference between a southpaw and a spitbucket
I mean yeah, that was the point actually. I wasn't saying they were boxing experts. I'm just saying that is the reality of what general sports fans think.

exactly...it comes with the territory bro...there's a reason we (boxing fans) see things during fights that they dont...the 'casual' fan is attracted to hype...fight fans dont need hype...DLH could be fighting a ham sandwich with gloves on and you'd have friends asking you about it...
i have friends like that too...they can yap and pretend to know but when the bell rings, they know to STFU, keep drinking and ask questions later

no I agree. But this still contradicts what a lot of posters on here assume is reality when they say "no one wants to see Pac vs. Oscar"
I agree that nobody cared about Cotto-Margarito because nobody knows either of them. None of my casual fans asked about the fight, and I too have gotten hundreds of texts asking my opinion on Pacquiao-De La Hoya. I tell them the fight is a farce and nobody should give Pacquiao a chance in hell.
So yeah while De La Hoya-Pacquiao is going to bring a lot of interest in, it's going to turn a lot of them away when Oscar wins by KO in 4-5 rounds

I'm not sure about that last part. A brutal KO might amuse some people who are weaned on "MMA 'action' ".
