Talk running rife about the size difference between Oscar and Pac, has me reminded of a number of encounters (which involved at least one Hall of Famer) where the "lighter" man won over the "heavier" fella, or, in the last instance cited below, was on the way to victory:
Billy Petrolle (138 lbs.) UD over Jimmy McLarnin (141 lbs.), MSG, NY, 1930.
The New York Times described it as an astounding upset: "The greatest welterweight in America and heretofore believed to be the uncrowned ruler of the class was knocked from his lofty perch last night....and supplanted by an overgrown Lightweight..."
Petrolle KD'd McLarnin twice in the 4th round.
Note: McLarnin later avenged the defeat, twice.
Barney Ross (137 lbs.) SD over Jimmy McLarnin (142 lbs.), MSG Bowl, Long Island, NY, 1934, on scores of 11-2, 1-9 and 13-1. Some 4 months later, a 146-lbs. McLarnin avenged the loss also by SD (scores: 10-5, 6-8 and and 8-5) over the 140-lbs. Ross. Then, they met for the third time with McLarnin enjoing a 3.5-lbs edge (144.5 to 141 lbs). Ross won the third meeting by UD.
Lew Jenkins (134 lbs) TKO'd (7) Lou Ambers (140.5 lbs), MSG, NY, 1941, Non-title Return Match (Ambers' last recorded fight and the last of their two meetings). Ambers was 28 years old.
Carmen Basilio defeated (SD) the great Sugar Ray Robinson while weighing some 7 lbs. less in what was declared as, "1957 Fight of the Year".
Note: Early the following year, Robinson took back the Middleweight title. The weight difference in the second fight: something like 8 lbs., Robinson, heavier.
In 1952, at Yankee Stadium, NY, Sugar Ray Robinson, weighing 157.5 lbs, was leading on all score cards against the 173-lbs. Joey Maxim, when exhaustion caught up with him (caused by the heat) and he had to quit on his stool after the 13th round. The fight was for the World LightHeavyweight title.
I'm sure that many of you fellas can cite more fights with even bigger weight disparities between protagonists.

This is the biggest mismatch I can ever remember for a big fight. Oscar naturally outweighs the guy by 25 pounds. This can only end one way and if it doesn't, you have to either believe Pacquiao is superhuman or that Oscar has been overrated his entire career

It might be a mismatch sure but if you are prepared to write a guy off as a joke despite the fact that he has been one of the sport's best for over a decade just because he loses one fight in which he is heavily favoured then you are a moron and your opinion is worth jack ****.
