And what did HBO do to promote this fight? Put out a 24/7

I have friends who watch 24/7 and that is all they know about boxing.

24/7 could make a fight between me and Mayweather look competitive. It's called good editing, writing and promoting.

Odds for the Mayweather - De La Hoya fight were close to -300 for Floyd.

And I beg to differ. You make it seem like people who are putting money on these fights are totally oblivious to the sport.

Thats a ridiculous assumption, and I personally don't know anyone dumb enough to be blindly like that, especially with odds that weren't very outrageous in terms of winning, unlike the Hopkins-Pavlik fight where Hop was something like a 4-1 dog.

Well, Hopkins-Pavlik was not a superfight regardless of what Top Rank or Goldenboy tells you. Mayweather-De La Hoya was a superfight and the odds may have opened at -300 for Floyd or were at some point, but I seriously doubt those were the odds when that bell rang or even a few days before the fight. More than 50% of this forum alone thought Oscar would win. I remember the polls from BEFORE the fight, and they were fairly heavily in Oscar's favor at about 60-40.

Just pointing out the obvious fact that members of a public internet boxing forum, and professional boxing handicappers probably think a bit differently.

Yes, but read the comments, for example:

ĻI don't think of anyone that picked Pacquiao as intelligent. It actually made very little sense that Pacquiao won that fight. Regardless of what people want to act like they knew going in, this was an upset. A huge upset. The biggest of the year.Ļ - DiegoFuego
