  • Thi could be a great fight. There is NO WAY this is going to a decision. Had they not been HWs then i'd be all over this fight.

    • If this was the Vitali of old, I'd say he was going to KO Peter, but it just might go the distance.

Sanders knocked Rahman out of the ring, he climbed back in to continue, and eventually win by TKO.

EDIT: Incidentally, Sanders was in some trouble, but didn't look to be done, at least I don't remember him being hurt really bad. He just covered up, quit throwing back (was, I think, waiting for Rahman to punch himself out a little, he was throwing like crazy), and the ref stopped it.

I've got this fight on tape, somewhere, I'll watch it again and see, but I think I'm remembering it correctly.

Definitely caused by a punch, and definitely a legit TKO win, just not quite as "clean" as some think. The lips were, at least initially, ****** about by Lewis' head..Klitchko is one of a very few fighters in the world who are just the right height for Lewis head to catch him in the mouth if he leans his head down (Lewis certainly does this when coming in to clinch). The damage was worsened somewhat by a couple of jabs and a right hand, but Lewis' head did most of it, completely unintentional, though, and had nothing to do with the stoppage, which in my opinion was probably a little late, to be honest. That was a very, very nasty gash that could've caused vision problems for Vitali later on. No sense in even a small risk of that, and at the time I figured there'd be an immediate rematch (joke was on me, I guess) and wasn't concerned....after all, Klitchko wasn't losing an undefeated record, why give him another round to redeem the fight when he's got such a bad cut?

And before you go flaming me, I suggest you watch the fight, and slo-mo through the portion where the cut shows up, and where his mouth first starts looking bad. I'm taking no sides between the ****riders on either side, I'm just stating fact for the sake of having it maybe become widespread knowledge.

i heard about the rip on the eyebrow being caused by the lacing of LL's glove. the rip wasnt even on the eye, it wasnt effecting vitali's vision, why was the fight stopped?

There are "things" in your eyebrow that are important...nerves, muscles, that control eye and facial movement, that can be ruined easily if there isn't anything protecting them (skin, flesh), that's why the fight was stopped.

I caught a piece of shrapnel in my left eyebrow and have a piece of government plastic there now, along with a large area of my scalp and forehead that's numb (nerve cut). And after the surgery, I saw double for nearly 2 days, until my eye muscle adjusted to being in a slightly different spot. Believe me, the stoppage wasn't wrong.

Guilty conscience over the internet lol? You're a joke & you keep quoting me & trying to rebutt everything I'm saying. I expressed my opinion in this thread & you get all quote happy damn near attacking my point of view when you have no base for it. You have limited knowledge of boxing & try to dress your opinion up like it's fact or like you've backed everything up when it is what is; you own opinion. Let's just leave at that because I have nothing else to say to you. There's plenty of other old timers on this board that actually have boxing knowledge & are not biased when it comes to their favorite boxers.

And to say it again his face was a mess by CLEAN punching so there's no partial victory about it. He was stopped fair so don't try to sugar coat things for your own agenda.
Ok, moron. Show me where I said Rahman was Ko'd by Sanders. I gaurantee there is not one from ME. I saw that f'n fight and know damn well what happened , so come correct when throwing out accusations. I know my **** and would never make a false comment like that. Everybody makes mistakes, but i did'nt make that one. I promise you that. Lennox won not only on clean punches. His head, elbows and insides of his gloves were on Klitschko's face the whole fight. There is no way to know exactly what caused or worstened the cuts. All I know is that Vitali was whippin' that ass at the time the fight was stopped and was never given a rematch. That to me was a good reason to believe he would have won if the doctor had not stopped it. Lennox is great, but Vitali is just better in my opinion. He has the awkward skill set, power, workrate, meanstreak and a great chin. Sam Peter will get a prescribed dose from the better Dr. Klitschko on October 11th and he will not like the treatment. I would sue for malpractice if I were him. LOL
