The problem with Dawson is that he switched trainers too often. He already had four different trainers in five years. Something happened to Dawson when he fought Glen Johnson, because he looked different compared to his previous fights. I think it was just a bad night, and he will come back to his original form when he fights Tarver.

Dawson got in trouble when he tried to fight on the inside and trade punches instead of boxing. Some of the rounds he lost in this fight he was winning the majority of it until he got out the gameplan and got hurt in maybe the last 30 secs of the round. Besides those times he had control of the fight and won more rounds making the fight closer then it needed to be. I had it 8-4, it could have been 9-3 or 10-2 if he fought smarter and Johnson being slower. Hopkins has the experience to know how to fight Johnson who is very underrated and Dawson is very young. This was Chad first tough fight and hardest opponent, he learned from it and made him a better fighter.

          "...made him a better fighter."

So much better he decided to duck Diaconu. Dawson was offered a cool million to give an unskilled slugger a boxing lesson. He turned it down and gave away his belt. That is not the mark of a champion nor does it show he has confidence in his own abilities.

hopkins is too old to get in with someone that strong, big and fast. he can outwork hopkins and move around enough to box around hopkins who's stamina isnt getting any better these days...

i love b-hop, and there is the chance of a right getting chinny dawson out of there, but i see chad outworking him for a sd or ud.... sorry philly

If you wanna say he ducked Diaconu, thats your opinion. But Diaconu young and will be around the division, he just holding the belt til Chad decides to take it back. Why not get more money, more attention to face a bigger name, experienced fighter to prove hes a top LHW. Tarver fills that bill.

You got absolutely no ****ing knowledge of boxing Hopkins would already headbut him in the 9th round

naa seriously I see him seeking chances with his head from the 2rd on

What do you think? I think the old dog would just have too many tricks for Dawson who seems to fade late anyway.
Dawson is not very smart, There is no way in hell he ever beats Hopkins. He is not clever enough to figure Hopkins out. Not to mention the glass jaw.

Tarver is not a big draw, consequently there is no expectation of a substantially larger paycheck. In any case Dawson should have been aware that unification matches tend to get more publicity and patronage.

he did the same thing Margarito did, vacated his belt for a shot at another. and tarver is more well known the diaconu.
