I had Gerry winning his fight against Deleon. So did the 3 other guys who watched it with me. The judges saw different.

he was throwing that punch a gang of times.

nice and sweet when it finally landed flush and full power.

too bad they didn't end the event with that fight.

i seem to remember the last fight was god awful............

It wasn't lucky. Very few things in boxing are lucky. He threw the punch and Gonzalez' body with intentions of hitting him, and he hit him and knocked him out man. Luck played about 1% of that. Perseverance, skill, and timing were the other 99%. Now, granted, I am a huge fan of Gonzalez and I was upset when he lost that fight, but lets be honest man!

did jhonny have problems making weight in that fight?

sometimes that weakens your ability to take a body punch. though it looks like he got caught right on the sweet spot.

I'm not sure actually. A guy so big shouldn't drain himself like that, he should have learnt that after the Vasquez fight. Its good to see Jhonny at a healthy weight now though. But its possible he was drained, because he was kicking Penalosa's ass early on (and even winning the 7th) but he was definately starting to look tired.

the skills that allowed a 36 year old fighter to back up a one dimensional power puncher de leon the whole fight and be left untouched

the skills that allowed him to not take any damage against gonzales either. gonzales was winning those rounds dont get me wrong but he didnt land **** on penalosa. i dont call that a schooling
