  • Kelly Pavlik: "No Surprise if Roy Jones Beats Joe Calzaghe"

As the weeks go by, more and more people are jumping off the Joe Calzaghe boat and picking former four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. to pull off the win on November 8 at New York's Madison Square Garden. WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik holds a big interest in the fight, especially if Calzaghe wins. If he overcomes the challenge of Bernard Hopkins on October 18, and Calzaghe beats Jones - the two of them could end up fighting at some point in 2009. [details]

Yea, its a bit outta Kelly's character. Sounds like Pav really wants Joe in the ring with him.

I hope RJ beats Joe C, but too bad if he does we'll likely never see Pavlik v Joe.

Although Pavlik-Jones would be pretty sick too. In fact, that would be monstrous. Not a good styles matchup for Roy.

I'm kinda feeling the same way. I want Roy to retire with a great win like this would be, but I want to see Calzaghe vs. Pavlik. So Joe beating Roy and Kelly beating Bernard is better for the sport in my opinion. Hopkins and Pavlik are two of my favorites. I'm having trouble choosing who I want to win. Pavlik winning is better for the sport..

                I hope RJ wins too.

The thing is, Joe said he'd retire only if he's happy with his performance against Roy.
If he's not, and he loses, then the fight with Pav won't be as big, or won't happen, and if Cal wins, he's gonna retire.

For us who wanna see Pav/Cal, seems to be no way we're gonna get it.
                hope i'm wrong though.

the real boxing fans have seen that calzage is a coward who is scared to feel the ghost faced killers power. pavlik is doing everything he can to get calzage in the ring but everyone knows calzage is scared of any real challenge.
