Worse in my eyes. And wouldn't it be 2 losses? Didn't he fight Taylor after he had turned 40? Either way it's just impressive that Hops can fight at this level and beat on the modern day greats that he has. Tarver is overrated, but Hops proved that by embarrassing him and making him his *****. And you can argue that he hasn't lost to Taylor or Calzaghe, but let's not start that up again.

Was Ali's legacy any worse because he kept fighting far past his prime and because of this lost to Leon Spinks, Holmes and Berbick? (only one of who belonged in the same ring as him) There's your answer.

He was invincible at middleweight, had he fought Taylor 2 years before it would have been the most one sided ass whoopin Taylor has ever seen. Because of his age he could only fight to inch each round away, and dominate the later half. I thought he did enough to win, but what you gonna do. Goes with the territory of bein a fan of a 40+yr old man.

I dont think the losses to Taylor hurt his legacy much. The loss to Calzaghe shouldnt hurt him at all, he was a part time fighter three years running, 43 years old. Same thing if Pavlik beats him, I dont think it hurts him.
Being able to move up to LHW and take Tarver's belt was great for his legacy, his win over Winky was good for his legacy.
IDK though cause I love Hopkins as much as anyone, some may disagree with me.

              It would be worse.

Yea he lost the first to JT but you cant say he didnt deserve #2. He REALLY beat Joe, beat Tarver, Winky, and at his age is going against one of the best fighters today. He is to be marveled, not put down.

His style isn't the greatest but he needs to do what he has to do in order to over come the deficiencies that comes along with old age.

In each of those three losses (all to top fighters,) quite a number of people thought he won. Not too shabby for a 40+ year old man. How is that supposed to hurt his legacy again? You think Holmes hurt his legacy getting bounced around the ring by Tyson?
