Pre-fight most people was very high on Lacy. Perhaps someone would be so kind as to bump the old prefight threads of Lacy-Calzaghe. Lacy was heavylie (spelling..) favoured to win. Especially by the american posters.

take it easy guy.... i obviously haven't seen all his fights.

but you still haven't answered my question what seperates kessler from the rest that makes him so many posters favourite fighter?

also i think the reason some americans thought jeff would beat calzaghe was because joe was already in his 30's and had beat no one except a shot eubank..

dont make excuses u yanks are all the same u hype up your young unbeaten fighters "young mike tyson" blah blah

then what happen calzaghe gave him a boxing master class everything calzaghe did was perfect that night expect one minor glich HE SHOULD OF KNOCKED HIM THE **** OUT - all the shots he landed flush he should of finished him and that is the one disappointment

kessler deserved respect as he hurt calzaghe with alot of good shot selections, he his huge for the weight very well built strong and takes a good shot, he fought the fight of his life without any sparing so taking that into account you have to respect his performance also i think he was very nervious and taken back about 50,000 people screaming for calzaghe to spark him out but he has learnt more from that fight from any other fight and he will be a huge force in the super middle weight division i just hope froch eventually goes against him as froch will get sparked the **** out overhyped ****!!!!!

Truth be told Kessler is average at best, and will remain so in my eyes until I see him against another elite fighter. Calzaghe is the only elite opponet on his record and he damn near got shutout in that fight. I just find him to be too robotic for my liking. He's got a good jab though.
Yes, yes, everything is a conspiracy by the Calzaghe nuthuggers. I hear the Calzaghe nuthuggers and the Wladimir Klitchko sackswingers are going to form a coalition called the "KlitZaggs Peanutdanglers" and try to take over the entire nutsucking community in the sport of boxing.

But he's still a solid name that could likely benefit Mikkel's exposure. Edison is the Judah of 160-168lbs now. A recognizable name who's not much of a threat anymore.

Taylor, Pavlik, Kessler and Abraham are pretty much it for 160-168lbs. (Assuming Kelly doesn't stay at 175lbs, if he does it would be even worse.)

Hopefully in the time it takes them to fight each other, a few new names will emerge to keep **** fresh. Because after they're done with each other it's 175lbs or bust.

That's why, if I were Kessler, I wouldn't bother with Miranda. I'd be coming after Pavlik. Actually, he should've made a fight with Hopkins before Pavlik did, that would've almost guaranteed him a shot at Pavlik, or a rematch with Calzaghe, if Zaggs doesn't retire.

What's funny is there weren't many Calzaghe fans pre Lacy. Jeff "MINI MIKE TYSON" Lacy was just an over rated BIG American name that made Joe Calzaghe. Most Calzaghe fans claim they have been watching him for ages when most just lie. They jumped ship when he beat LACY.

Its funny to go back to pre lacy threads about Joe, you notice there was not much talk about anything like it is NOW. Once he beat LACY (they had something to talk about) he was ALI over night. lol The threads don't get no where near as much play as they do now. I WONDER WHY???????

lol I will admit they are the BEST FANS a fighter can BS......

Big, popular fights make boxing fans. It's as simple as that.

O I agree and I feel ya on that one. Which is why I don't listen to half his fans. They are nothing but newbies that viewed Joe beat Lacy and became a fan and preach like they know something about boxing. WHEN in fact all they know is Joe Calzaghe is undefeated and he beat an over hyped American (gave them something to brag about).

I knew the name of joe Calzaghe before HALF these jokers even watched him for the very first time. I only knew the name from following Jones jr. I didn't really pay any attention to him. When joe was fighting a bunch of nobodies in his back yard I was watching Prince Hamed put on great shows (just to show i'm NOT a biased American). The Joe calzaghe vs Kessler was the only fight that interested me, because I liked Kessler. A young and hungry guy. The same reason I like Haye.
