    How come...

none of you will give Calzaghe any credit for beating Jones Jr and are all discrediting him for fighting a "past-it" fighter, when Jones seems to get more votes or just as many votes as Calzaghe on all the prediction polls?

make up your minds, is Calzaghe an OAP fighting coward or is Jones gonna expose that euro hype job

Either way if Joe wins i will give him props like
just not the sort of respect he would of got had he fought Jones in his prime
and it certaintly wont make any diffrence to his legacy cuz lets face it
it aint the same roy jones..

i would respect joe a lot more had he took on pavlic instead

but why wont it boost his legacy if the majority of people feel he will lose? or it will at least be a close match...?

Can't it be a little bit of both? They could possibly coincide....or in my opinion neither are exactly true. I voted for jones to win but that's mostly riding on my theory that roy is not as past it as people may think and that calzaghe is not simply a hype job...he's a skilled fighter with a unique, unorthadox style.....but still merely a man and can be beaten just like any other fighter...and I think Roy is more equipped to pull off a win at this point than Hopkins.

It's because he pisses people off with his style of fighting. I say **** that. He's pretty entertaining.

people just hate calzaghe. i would vote for charlie zelenoff or andrew kid thunder hartley if they were in the poll. also if he "beats" roy like he "beat" hopkins do you really get credit when you clearly lost and landed nothing?

I hear ya m8 but i reckon no matter what or who Joe beats
his never gonna really gain the respect from the states
and to be honest i cant really understand that cuz the man is a great fighter.

But lets face it he beats jones if he knocks him out straight away
quick there gonna say cuz roy was shot
If the fight is close there gonna say he couldnt get rid of an over the hill
              jones..

I honestly believe that a lot of people voting for Jones are hoping he'll win more than actually thinking he'll win.

                I could be wrong though.

Because most of the people picking Calzaghe are just people that hate him or Roy Jones fans who are hoping he has one last great performance in him. Most people vote with their heart, not their head.

I expect that most boxing experts/writers will be picking Calzaghe to win.

Also, although Jones is past-prime/shot, Calzaghe is the best match-up for him in certain ways. Jones' main weakness now is probably his chin. Well, Calzaghe doesn't hit hard, so that helps Jones.

If I was Roy Jones' manager, and I could pick for him any opponent in the top 5 at SMW or LHW, I would pick Calzaghe. Dawson, Tarver, Johnson, Kessler, Bute and a few others would have a good chance of KOing Roy at this point IMO.

probably, but it's not just that one poll... i was gonna make this thread weeks ago...

you get just as many people saying "y'all musta forgot, jones is gonna KO that hype job" as you do "calzaghe is a coward, he only picks fights against OAPs and he's ducking pavlik"
