Just make it the same thing as pros except bigger gloves and a little extra protective gear.

then everyone could transition to the pros better, and the fights wouldnt be garbage. and throw that scoring idea out the window...its hilarious how a guy can land 10 punches and get 1 point out of it.

        3 points for a standing 8 count
        5 points for a knockdown
At least up it to 4 out 5 judges score the same punch, I think it's 3 out of 5 right now.

I doubt a 17 year old Amir Khan would have got an Olympic Silver with no headgear. lol.

            that's how the biscuit crumbles
in reality this **** is nothing but glorified sparring.
i guess with them fighting with the frequency that they do the head gear prevents injuries,i don't know they can figure it out.

Good point! I guess the key point is that it is amateur. Not sure if it would really be in their best interests to be picking up injuries specifically if they aren't getting paid for it.

I know the British amateurs that went to the Olympics got funded about £70,000 a year according to what I read, with that kind of backing you'd have thought they might have done better. I doubt other Am's have that backing so can't really afford injuries.

yep.ama boxing really isn't an indicator to who's going to be a great pro fighter unless its a really good prospect, like a khan.

True I didn't think about injuries, like a badly swollen eye or a big cut. I wonder how they did it back in the day when they didn't have headgear.
