    Question for people picking Jones

Is he a better fight than when he fought Tarver for the 3rd time with his new Winky defense and the confidence boost of winning those 3 fights.

Is he the same fighter who fought Tarver?

Is he worse than when he fought Tarver?

In terms of physical ability, I think he probably has less. He hasn't got any younger after all. His improvement since then is based on him now realising the extent to which his physical abilities have declined, and modifying his style accordingly. Whether this new style is enough to compensate for the ravages of age remains to be seen. We haven't seen him in with an elite boxer for several years.

physically, hes less of a fighter...

stylistically, i think hes a little less now also

the winky style helps him, but his entire career was based on his unorthodox style...

with the age hes at now, hes better served with his new style, but that doesnt necessarily make him better...

id say hes not quite as good, but also not quite as vulnerable... if that makes sense.

I say he is better mentally, which was his biggest problem. You cant be as good as Jones was and then get KTFO out of the blue and think it wasn't still on his mind. He is human just like anybody else. I also believe when he fought Johnson he was still worried about getting KTFO, so he really didn't throw any punches and ended up getting KTFO again.
I believe he would beat Johnson were they to fight again, but I would still see him being to gun shy against Tarver. I mean Johnson is gonna be coming in and be right there but he doesn't do anything special, just a good solid fighter. A confident Jones is too much for Johnson, and he isn't really sneaky or scary like Tarver. Tarver fights with fear in his eyes, he also fights tall too, so he doesn't set himself up for counters. Tarver does things when you think he's not going to because he looks as if he is scared to death in the ring, then all of the sudden he will throw a bomb out of the blue. Roy, IMO didn't want to get caught again. Hell Tarver wasn't even looking at Jone's when he caught him with that right hook in the 8th. Tarver throws "get away from me" punches when he fights Jones, and they just so happen to be hard as hell if he catches you clean.
So as long as Jone's isnt fighting Tarver, he should be OK. I think he can beat Tarver, but Jone's memory of that KO wont let him do what he wants to do.

Tarver caught him with a left hook in the 2nd round of the 2nd fight, not a right hook in the 8th round.

Jones is what he always was and Calzaghe will prove this. So no excuses from the excuse prone yanks.

Id say he has a better chance against Joe than he would have, Largely due to the confidence boost and also the energy saving style but that dont mean he is better.
                  And yes **** Joe!
