By Robert Morales - Carlos Palomino is dumbfounded. For the life of him he can't figure out why Oscar De La Hoya would even entertain the thought of fighting Manny Pacquiao.

Palomino, inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2004, was reached at his Los Angeles-area home on Tuesday. He reacted with disgust when the subject of De La Hoya-Pacquiao - which is still very possible for Dec. 6 - was broached.

"It's ridiculous, as far as I'm concerned," said Palomino, who was born in Mexico but has lived in Southern California since he was 10. "Oscar is in a no-win situation. I have no idea why he would want to fight Manny Pacquiao. If he beats him, everybody is going to say, 'What the hell is that all about?' "

Like all critics of this proposed matchup, Palomino noted that Pacquiao began his career at 106 pounds. Palomino said he is not even convinced that Pacquiao is a terrific lightweight. Yes, Palomino said, Pacquiao did move up in weight in June to take David Diaz's lightweight title via 9th-round technical knockout. But Diaz was not considered the top lightweight in the world. That honor would probably go to Nate Campbell. [details]

If the Golden Girl wants to leave boxing on a high note he should take off the fishnet stockings and put on his gloves to face Margarito.

Win or Lose Oscar will gain respect,but if he leaves with a win against the Philipino midget his career will be in shambles.

de la hoya needs to fight margarito he publicly said he would fight the winner of the cotto margarito fight. De la hoya if you fight pacquiao your no Mexican Amercian a mexican american would have fought the best like margarito or williams not fight a guy who started his wait at 106. on williams hey it's business you know it can be a dirty game, my advice stay busy, the fight will happen next year.

Excellent interview. I was also glad to see Palomino point out what an ******* Bob Arum really is. I put 100 percent blame on Arum for the Williams-Margarito fight not being made.

To the casual boxing fan, this fight with Pac doesn't dent Oscars reputation at all..... Oscar doesn't care what the hardcore fan wants (who are probably outnumbered 1000:1 by Oscar fans). He's after the money, for no risk - the people who flood the arenas to see him probably haven't seen a fight since the Forbes affair.

Mr Carlos Palomino is a little bit insane from telling that he feels that JMM beat Pacman twice... tsk tsk tsk what an insane idea. the man who kiss the canvas 4 time in two meeting wins?????? and he (JMM) cannot even send Pacman once ever since they met... well probably mr insane Palomino if ever JMM and Pacman meets again for the rubber match, you will witness how this JMM a crybaby will be going to dreamland and will be crawling like a crazy monkey inside the ring...
and this will be the real history that Pacman will achieved in his life as a great warrior inside the ring......

Well Pacman vs ODLH hope this will not happen because all of the boxing experst but not all simply did not want this to happen. but some says Pacman has a chance in beating this aging ODLH iside 12 rounds...... So let ODLH fight himself inside the ring to get the 100% purse bid....
