You trying to tell me about population sizes just sounds like excuses to me. As far as American boxing going down the ****ter I really don't see that. We have so many fighters and many really good upcomers. As for the Olympics we failed but really I don't put stock into that. Most good fighters turn pro and as for the guys on this team a few of them will be pretty darn good. Olympic boxing doesnt mean much anymore.

Why do you make a differentiation between boxers from the US and boxers from the rest of the world? A boxers nationality makes no difference in how good you are; that is down the boxer himself.

I find it laughable that you don't consider a boxer to be great unless they fight great American fighters. What if there are no great American fighters? Take Vasquez, Donaire and Mijares, theres not much chance of them becoming great is there because there are no yanks good enough to even get a shot at them.

The whole world does not revolve around the USA.

A typical American trait. When you're becoming **** at something, say the whole competition is ****. Funny as ****. Ask Evander Holyfield how important the Olympics are......even he thinks you're in a bad state.

You do the same thing with the Heavyweight division. It sucks because all the Yanks are getting knocked down like Dominoes by Wlad.

Well American boxers have traditionally been the dominant ones in the sport......theres no denying it and I respect your tradition but right now? Who you got? Pavlik?? And there aint much coming through, Im sorry to say.

Population isnt an excuse.....its just a fact. In theory, you produce 6 times the boxers we do and thats not taking into account how much bigger a sport it is in America. Sorry.......face facts.

Nah, it's a fact. Remove 5/6th of America and you'd have less top boxers, wouldn't you?

What I love about this post is that you start by suggesting that a logical explanation for a disparity between the nations is infact an excuse, and then proceed to offer a bunch of excuses for why America hasn't done well at boxing at the Olympics this year.

I have to wonder about people like yourself. I mean, most of us are patriotic to some extent, but when you seem like you need to rely upon the success of people who happen to be from the same country as you in order to feel good about yourself, you're probably a bit sad.

Besides, I thought you said you were you Puerto Rican before? Or do I have you confused with someone else?

                  Country Pride is for losers.

Although the MGM crowd was nuts and made the fight even better I will never understand why people are obsessed with having to root for their country men. It's sports, not a real war. You should just root for who you want to root. Being white a ton of people kept asking me who are you rooting for since youre white. Why do I have to be Mexican or PR? What if I was mexican pulling for Cotto? I just think its really dumb, its only sports root for whoever you want to. Same goes with people that think if a fighter from USA beats a guy from the UK that their country is superior to the others. Sports is meant to be fun, not to tear worlds apart.

when did the yanks beat the british in a war? I remember the war of independance but that was british immigrants in the usa fighting against british citizens loyal to the crown. Also if the Americans are so good at war then why do they kill more of their own men than the opposition kill in friendly fire incidents?.
as for Americans boxers, how many great Amercan boxers is there at the minute seeing as floyd no longer boxes.
Seeing how britain has 2 in the top 10 p4p then were not doing bad are we

Yeah, the UK are doing alright at the moment.

I like Americans and have American relatives who I get on well with. I used to think that Americans and Brits liked each other, but then I started reading this forum and it was like "WTF?"
