Land the better punches and show better defense.

He didn't land ****. And a boxing match is not a skills demonstration. Don't tell me he "showed defense." Defense is what prevents the other guy from beating your ass, but don't grade it like you're grading ice skating

He landed good rights and left hooks on the inside. When in the clinch, Hopkins would land the better shots and **** him up. Wright missed a lot of shots like in round 2 and Hopkins would come back and land shots.

Hopkins showed defense, but then he came back with shots of his own. So I agree that showing defense isn't all that counts, but if Wright isn't landing shots and then Hopkins would fire back.

I actually thought Wright won the fight. probebly am in the minortiy because I remember most people having Hopkins winning the fight after it happened, but all Hopkins really did is hold on to Wright with one hand and throw some shoeshine punches when they got close. those punches didnt look all that damaging to me, and half the time they were partially blocked anyway, because Wright would just sit there with his guard up.

I thought most the clean shots were Wrights jab and left hand. and Hopkins' head, but youre really not supposed to score that. overall I thought Wright landed more punches, and in a fight like that where no one is actually landing any real damaging shots, it kind of counts.

ugly fight tho, not fun to score.

Nah the cleanest shots were Hopkins' left hooks towards the end. I remember when Winky's spit flew out the ring at one point, and after that I remember Winky had a line of drool hanging from his mouth to his chest for a good 30 seconds.

Rammstein purportedly originally wrote "Sonne" as entrance music for Vitali Klitschko. How badass is that, great song too.

well the last 3 rounds were an exception, Hopkins pretty much swept those, but for most of the fight Winky's jab was the cleanest thing landing to me.

I thought Bernard's right hand was more effective and it landed more. Bernard would always tie up and fire back or even slip it and dodge it.

I'll admit, the jab did bother Hopkins in the 1st 2-3rounds. I never seen Hopkins get hit that clean. It's just that Hops kinda neutralized it about round 5 and Winky started relying on his wider punches. You could see he was getting frustrated at the point of the butt. You can say what you will, but Winky was trying to dog him on the ropes leaning forward and charging at him to force hopkins into his punches. He does this against less skilled fighters but Hopkins tucked his head down and the butt occurred. I blame Winky just as much if not more, and his tactics to force Hopkins on the ropes seemed to be a plan B attempt as X was adapting to the jab. Hops adapts, and what people think is a sloppy fight with 2 gunshy fighters, is really 2 fighters reading each other and adapting throughout the fight. Not as exciting to the gatti/margarito/DLH/pavlik fans, but I loved this fight and got to see two of our generation's smartest fighters match wits in the ring. I also feel hopkins got the better of it.
