It could happen. But a well-timed knockout punch, not unlike Toney vs Nunn, is what I would see happening in the hypothetical situation that a 168 lb James Toney fought against Wladimir Klitschko in a p4p match-up.
Toney tends to get more aggressive as the fight goes on, especially when he is losing or if it's close. Not when he is unprepared though, then he just lays back and hopes that the opponent would walk into a counter punch.
McCallum and Nunn did well against Toney with the jab, but they also had to eat some counter punches (McCallum absorbed them, Nunn did not). I don't have much faith in Wladimir's jaw during the later stages of the fight.
Of course in a real match-up Toney would not have the ability to hurt Wladimir, he is way too small.
I doubt Toney will be able to set up anything sufficiet against Wlad as fight goes on, he might produce a flash KD somewhere if Wlad gets ****y, but in this case the more aggressive Toney is gonna be the more he will get hit.
