    Lmao @ Gregory Leon

AN email from a fan to g. leon.. on him trying to push ishe smith vs cotto..

Ishe beats Cotto because styles make fights? What kind of cliché is that? Would that be the same “style” that has recorded 2 Ko’s in the last five years! Last time I checked Miguel Cotto was a touch better than Carlos De La Cruz and Oscar Gonzalez. That is the most ridiculous prognostication I have ever read. That fight would go off at -10,000 Cotto. That advice will land Ishe in the hospital and a guaranteed retirement party. I pray that fight never happens. Cut bait- I’d be shocked if he lands on Friday night fights and a 10k payday.

Leon's Response: Ishe has a chance to beat Cotto because styles make fights. Cotto isn't going to have the easiest time finding him and if Ishe counters effectively when he makes Cotto miss, he's very capable of outboxing him. That fight would land Ishe more money than he's ever made before while getting him one step closer to a title shot. Taking the fight would be a no brainer, I'm not sure the Cotto people will accept, but I am sure that the Bobfather and I have spoken about it more than once so we'll find out.

I wouldn't say it's a bad idea as far as consulting goes. Ishe Smith has a fanbase of none so money is always an issue. Why not cash him out against a comebacking fighter and make some money?

I highly doubt Leon really believes Smith can be competitive with Cotto, he'd go the same way Gomez went, maybe even worse. Atleast Gomez was a solid welterweight/junior middleweight. If Smith hangs around, his career isn't going anywhere. If he takes the fight with Cotto and gets beaten into retirement, atleast he makes some dough for his trouble.

It makes sense for Bob Arum because Smith can't punch yet he's familiar to TV audiences through The Contender.

Even though I think Leon is a bottom feeder, I can't really argue with any of that. Ishe's options seem rather limited. If he were somehow able to beat Cotto his value would skyrocket.

                  exactly

Ishe can sell himself as the soft touch Cotto is looking for as his first fight easily.

as for Leon his site has turned into his marketing machine. I mean whatever honestly but it used to be so much better than this

We all know what Smith is about, he's never going to be marketable, he's never going to be a world class contender. He had a good showing in his last fight upsetting a guy who can't fight, why hold him back from tough challenges when it's no secret that he has a ceiling on his future already?

Cash him out is much more productive than having him run up a meaningless win streak on the West ******ia circuit.

Like Leon or not, you have to admit that putting Barrett and Smith in with the opponents he has in the last two fights was pretty smart. He knew what most knew, that those guys were garbage and exploited that.
