For starters he's heavyweight, and this whole concept is ****e.
I understand where you're coming from, but also understand including a heavy in such a list.

Wlad can punch, no doubt....but, considering he is almost always much larger than his foes, the lb4lb thing actually HURTS his status.

It doesn't make sense how people can judge it though, of course Pacquiao hits P4P harder than Malignaggi.

But how can you judge that Klitschko is P4P a harder hitter than Haye.. or Valero?

      It'd take a scientific study.

How can you effectively judge Valero's power, when he's been belting out marginal guys ?

Like I said, Wlad hits people & hurts them. But, he is hitting guys much smaller than himself, so it's hard to judge.
Now, if Haye moves up & KO's bigger guys at heavy, then you know he's a serious puncher in the lb4lb sense.

I would lean towards Abraham as the biggest P4P puncher.

His half left hook/uppercut has devastated a lot of opponents if he lands that cleanly. It is a monster punch that turns his opponents into bobbleheads.

I don't consider Pavlik a top P4P puncher. He is just extremely heavy handed and knows how to really beat guys up. He works for his KO's by wearing down a guys resistance. He does not even load up on his shots. His KO ratio is so high because he never looks to land a big punch, just lots of hard ones. He has the ability to knock out iron chinned guys because of this.

That's true, but to truly judge pound for pound power, you'd have to measure one's punching power, one's weight and then do the math.

              What, with a machine ?

If that's what you're saying....wouldn't apply. I'd saya guy like Miguel Cotto would probably have a heavier measured punch than prime Thonas Hearns. But, in the ring, it's no contest- Hearns is a top 5-10 lb4lb hitter, while Cotto doesn't even register.

Despite being KO'd (head-butt or not)...Torres is a bigger puncher than Holt.
