I think its very hard for Cotto to beat Marg. I see what you're saying about clinching, but I just think he would have taken even more punishment on the inside, because in any clinch both fighters throw at least a few shots.

If Cotto could do anything, I would say his best bet would be to box a very very negative fight, and spend most of it on his bike. As he demonstrated, when they did engage Cotto was the cleaner puncher, but Marg caused most damage, so if he could keep engagement down to a minimum and steal rounds while limiting the amount of punishment he takes himself, then I could see Cotto winning.

Problem is I don't know if he's actually capable of going backwards for 12 rounds like that. He isn't Mayweather.

it's not just using an effective clinch, cotto was spending to much time in one spot. what he should have done was, instead of sitting against the ropes and bouncing punches off margaritos head while tony dug to the body, moved. he should have worked on keeping the fight in the center of the ring and changing distance and constantly turning tony so that he couldn't plant his feet like he could when cotto was laying on the ropes.

1-Fight more at the center of the ring.
                    2-Clinch more would have worked
                    3-STAY AWAY FROM THOSE UPPERCUTS!!!!!
                    4-Stay away from the ropes
5-Don't commit your offense to the head (Cintron has more power than any other welter right now and didn't hurt Tony with clear shots).

Anyway I don't think he did bad. Margarito's work rate was too much.

I think he should have gone to the body but still lost in the 12 by TKO.Any way he would have lost he was running but if he would have stayed n traded he would have lost in the 7th or 8th.
