He was not outboxing Cotto, he was out willing him. His stamina and workrate got the better of Cotto it certainly wasn't his boxing ability.
Margarito Great Boxing Skills are Underrated

Cotto definitely was outboxing Margarito for most of the rounds.
Cotto's fragile chin caused him to lose a lot of rounds that he was dominating because he got hurt so easy.
But really, Cotto was doing a lot more good work than Margarito, but Margarito's size and chin differentials compared to Cotto's made it possible for him to win the rounds even though he was doing less, because those differentials made his work more valuable than Cotto's.
Plain and basic common sense.Comment

People are forgetting he was outboxing cotto the p4p 6th guy in the world and regarded as one of the best boxers
sure his style might not include running around and all that cowardly stunts ppl seem to love, but he is effective he punches a lot and it lands
margarito is one of a kind there is not one fighter that can punch as much as margarito and be as relentless, add to that his warrior mentality and great chin and u have a great boxing skills to win an UD against elite fighters like cotto clottey or mayweather
Those idiots couldn't be more wrong.
Margarito's boxing skills is a combination of basic talents, simple tactics and indomitable will.
It is a rarity in boxing that you see relentless pressure being applied nonstop no matter the hurdles.
You see that in Margarito.Comment

Tony wins a fight against a very good fighter and now he is the second coming..........
all this is non sense and getting pretty ridiculous.
If Tony is soooooo godly, why wont he venture past 147? How about a santos fight again? How about him fight middleweights if he is so unstoppable. Other fighters have made the move , some have even started at 130 and gone up to 160.(oscar)Comment

Try to be a moron and let me shove those words back up your mouth.
And in the future don't start thinking the way I think. I need tools like you which I can use.
Cotto's fragile chin?
You are dumb eh?
Cotto withstood hundreds of punches from Margarito bowing down only in the round 11. Is that what you call fragile chin? Lols.
******.
Cotto doing a lot more work??
Dumber than dumb?
Cotto after round 7 was on the back-peddal all the time yet he has reduced punch output and Marg has significantly increased his powershot hits.
I already educated your moronic mind about how to score rounds and yet you can't remember.
I will educate you again ******. And this time try to remember.
In order for a boxer who back-peddals to win the round.. he has to DOMINATE his opponent in order to win the round.
Take note of the word DOMINATE.
Anything less and the round goes to the aggressor. All the aggressor has to do is keep the fight close and he will win the round by virtue of him being the one who is pressuring.
That's common sense in professional boxing dude. I already educated you on this and yet you forgot it already.
Pity.
In the future don't use my line plain and basic common sense if you don't have an idea what you are talking about.
That line is reserved for me and my disposition of being correct.Comment

and didnt cotto had a good chin? didnt torres "pushed him"?
i think ur forgetting how boxing is scored doing a lil dance at the end of the round doesnt matter, inflicting damage in your opponent is what counts cotto was not winning most of the rounds even the hbo judge had the fight a draw going into the 11thComment
