Gatti was also wildly popular. Because he could get knocked to kingdom come and still turn it around with a big left hook.

Haye knows he's chinny and gets around this by aiming to knock out his opponent first. Wlad knows he's chinny and gets around this by not taking ANY risks until he's 100% sure it's a stiff in front of him.

Wlad has become one of the most difficult boxers to hit in the entire sport.

Haye would do that as well, but he lacks the pedigree and the skills. He really doesn't have the choice of morphing into a boxer. His technique is piss poor.
Edit: and 27 yrs is WAY too old to learn.

Your post is almost like saying Mayorga, Miranda, and others chose never to box defensively. They kind of did, and they kind of didn't

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm suggesting that Wlad lacks the wild popularity of other chinny big punching fighters because he speds his time staying out of trouble while other chinny punchers rely on being able to overpower their opponent. Wlad is good, but at the same time he doesn't make exciting fights. Even his knockout wins nowadays tend to come after 7 rounds of pawing and clinching.

I hope Vitali doesnt get injured because I like him. But, Peter and Haye would be very interesting. Haye should fight as soon as possible. I am very curious to see how he fights.

            Fine, and agreed.

As a fan of Wlad this doesn't bother me. I never want to see him go out and slug, when I know hiding behind the jab and breaking his opponent down will lead to the knockout eventually. That's good strategy.

Its a good strategy but it makes him not exciting to the eye..Except for his fans eyes, I like Wlad but he needs to remove the overly cautions fighting "technic" that he seem to be using in the last 2 years or so because his better than that.

you have to appreciate wlad klitschko's style of boxing, because his defeats by sanders most notably led to his current fighting style, along with steward's help of course. there's the most possible risk involved in terms of brain injury, when boxing in the heavyweight division. punches thrown at you may be less, but much more traumatic if they hit. klitschko knows this and it takes alot of hard work to have his kind of footwork...ALOT. i bet in a few years his knees are going to be shot. well, not a few ,maybe 5...my best shot is the jab and it's just neat to see a big guy break a guy down with it. Everyone was ripping on him for using that little technique at the beginning of his fight with Ibragimov, stuffing down Ibragimov's jab, but I thought it was interesting. If you are bigger than a southpaw that's a good way to nullify their jab.
