MArgarito was born lucky! (boxing related)

I don't have to read it again, Cotto's face or the fact he had to be taken to the hospital after the fight were not because of AM's chin, it was because of his fists. Everybody knows AM is going to have problems with skilled & fast boxers at first, but by that token, he outworks them to even things out in the later rounds. With your theory then Mayweather was lucky to be born with all that speed, PWill was lucky to be born that tall, I guess every elite fighter is lucky to be born with their talents. Bottom line is every elite fighter gets to where they're at because they dedicate themselves in the gym and use their god given talents to the best of their abilities.Comment

And his crazy stamina levels. He holds a compubox record for the most punches ever thrown in a 12 rounder 1675 thats to exact thats a 140 punches a round. Some could argue his conditioning is even crazierComment

He can do that because he doesn't waste energy by moving around the ring, he doesn't dodge punches by moving side by side and all that come with avoiding to get hit. All that consume energy as well, he just comes forward and gets hit a lot. Mosley won because ha has waay more Punching power than Cotto plus he learned how to beat him by just holding on.Comment

I watched the fight with some friends and my brother on PPV. After we got over the shock of Cotto losing, the topic was Margarito's chin. That was all we talked about the next day. When you look at the first 4 or 5 rounds, you think that Margarito will eventually fold under so many crisp punches. How the hell did Margarito withstand a leaping left hook from hell that clean on the chin at the end of round 2?! That always sticks out in my mind as the biggest punch Cotto landed throughout the fight.I made a thread similar to this awhile ago. I also highly agree Margarito's greatest strength is his chin. His defense is primarily his head. Cotto hits hard as **** and the shots he landed I wouldn't be surprised if they take their toll on him later in life or even in his next fight. You know those people that should go down rather than take as much as they do, in the Cotto fight, you wonder how the hell Margarito never went down. And yes, if it wasn't for his chin, Cotto would still be undefeated because Cotto was outboxing him and landing the cleaner-harder shots early on. Anyone else who took the shots Marg did in the 1st half of the fight wouldn't have made it to the 2nd half, that simple.Comment
