    Stepping Stone Thread

    Hey guys I don't know if this was already done before, but can we list the very first fight and/or fighters elite fighters have beaten to get them to elite level status. Something like;

    Pacquiao beatdown of Barrera
    Pavlik KO win over Taylor
    Israel Vazquez KO win over Rafael Marquez
    Margarito beatdown of Cotto
    Mayweather KO win over Hatton

    So if there are fights you remember, please do add to this list.

        To me a steppingstone is like David Izon or Lovemore N'Dou, someone you beat as a prospect to become a contender.

          Hatton TKO11 Tszyu (still painful to remember your favorite fighter not answering the bell).

              Hmmm, I'd like to think of it more of like crashing one of your division's tested gatekeepers, if not elites. Yeah Hatton's beatdown of Tszyu would be one of those.

                WE shouldn't count one-hit-wonders though. Otherwise we'd have Forrest as an elite because he beat Mosley, and Tarver because he KOed Jones....

                Calzaghe over Lacy would count if Calzaghe KOed Lacy, but he didn't. Let's count BEATDOWNs, and KOs only if its ok

                  Makes sense homey, although even without a KO you can't say Joe C v Lacy wasn't one of the worst beatdowns you'll ever see.

                    Well, Lacy wasn't even a fringe-elite, Lacy was just a decent contender at best.
