    Who do you TRUST most?

There's always a bunch of hearsay and rumours. As boxing fans, we are often confused about what to believe. There are a zillion websites, forums and sports blogs.

    Some examples:

    Bob Arum - credible?
    Leonard Ellerbe - credible?
    Richard Schaefer - credible?
    Kevin Iole - credible?
    Steve Kim - credible?
    George Willis - credible?
    Doug Fischer - credible?
    Steve Farhood - credible?
    Joe Goossen - credible?
    Dan Rafael - credible?
    Kevin Iole - credible?
    Frank Warren - credible?
    Greg Leon - credible?
    Yoel Judah - credible?
    Larry Merchant - credible?
    Brian Kenny - credible?
    Al Bernstein - credible?

See what I mean? WITHOUT TURNING THIS INTO A FLAME WAR, what sources do you trust...generally speaking?

Who do you think is fairly objective? Which fighters tend to be honest and candid? Which promoters try to do business in the best interest of the sport?

Also, if you have examples of writers being blatantly biased, please provide those.

But when Margarito says that he offered a rematch... or when Arum says that haymon was negotiating in bad faith...who do you believe?

This is unrelated to any other thread. Promise.

Do you trust Richard Schaefer.. or Pac's manager, Diaz? Who do you believe?

For example: I trust Roger Mayweather to tell me the truth more than I trust Floyd Mayweather, Sr to tell me the truth. i think Roger is less political and less of an attention-seeker. for all his cracckish ways, he seems pretty genuine.

Off that list Al Bernstein or Larry Merchant. Then the boxing writers and other TV guys.

Promoters and managers are paid to speak for whatever fighters they are working with, and words that are paid to be spoken are the cheapest possible thing in life.

I don't think I trust any of those scumbags. I go off what I actually see. If Williams says I want to fight Margarito and Margarito says something else that he wont then I just call it how I see it and say Margarito is ducking.

True that. But among promoters, Goossen seems ("SEEMS") more honest to me than King, Arum or Oscar. I don't think I have heard too much shady **** from Joey.

Among writers, you still have to be careful. In media nowadays, guys "pay" for access with their words and articles. Kornheiser and Wilbon talk about that often.

Honestly, I dont trust any promoter. It's like dealing with lawyers. You can trust that they will do whatever they can to benefit in their own interests.

Are there any fighters that you find to be refreshingly honest?

I remember watching a Shane interview. It was about 6 minutes and he was talking about the Forrest 1 fight. He talked about how he got "buzzed" by the headbutt, and then when VF hit him with the uppercut, he saw the overhead lights and everything was in slow motion. He said that he was buzzing afer the knocdown through most of the middle rounds. By the time he cleared his head, the fight was almost over. He spoke in great detail

I was like, damn. dude is very candid. i was loving that. And then he ruined it for me with his steroids and fakery. ***** knows he was doing juice. And he was hiding behing fake lie detectors and "my trainer gave me something".

That turned me off. I was off the Shane bandwagon for good.

I would never, ever, EVER trust a promoter. Not even with a signed contract, unless I had a ******* stuffed into his mouth and promised to drop the hammer if he lied. Most of the bull**** rumors you hear about this guy refused this amount to fight that guy are probably bull**** just to stir things up. Ignore all of it, and just watch whatever fights are made and televised and enjoy the show. Let all the rest of it go **** itself.

All around, I would believe these fighters

Israel Vazquez, Jermaine Taylor, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Andre Berto i feel have been pretty upfront about their experiences and careers up to date. I like how Jermaine made no excuses and admitted that he got "his butt whooped" by Pavlik.
