Here is what i dont understand. Most non-americans, or individuals who identify with the country of their grandmothers/mothers/fathers etc are free to support and get behind whoever they want, usually if they arent american, its almost socially acceptable on here. Filipinos get behind their own, Mexicans behind mexicans, English get behind their own, Puerto Ricans are free to fully support their own.

However, it seems like when it comes to Americans, white or black, when we get behind other americans, its like its not acceptable. Floyd is american, hes black, Paul Williams is american, Hes black. I dont see why this is such a problem.

What i do think is a problem is if someone OVERRATES their own favorite and BELITTLES unjustly other fighters of a different race or nationality.

Its like if you are a fan of say, Kelly Pavlik, its like "WELL HES WHITE" like it isnt allowed. I support American fighters to some extent, while im not a fan of paul williams, Black americans on this board getting behind other black american fighters SHOULD NOT, be a ****ing problem. The same with whites.

In all honesty, americans whites and blacks really get alot of **** on this board because everyone always trying to go out of their way to big up their ancestors country over the one they actually grew up and live in. Everyone is "mexican" everyone is "puerto rican" or "irish" or "russian" with many instances of not even speaking native languages or even having been to those countries. Americans should be allowed to support our own without hearing a host of bull****.

Mexicans get behind marquez and margarito, thats ok, but americans supporting floyd and paul williams isnt? What a line of ****.

And this whole thing about a "black hope" i dont know if you have been watching sports, olympics or any of that, but blacks dont need a "hope" were satisfied in our position as far as athletics go. We dont need to "hope" for any of that ****.

      Outstanding post.
It's not a transference thing with me. It's not like I said "Well, since Money retired, my new boy is PWill." Nothing of the sort. I just enjoy good fighters. I can appreciate a skillful fighter such as Mayweather, and at the same time, appreciate the will, grit, and output from Margarito. Or is that not allowed on this board?
Too many people try to pigeon hole **** on here. You can't say So and So would beat the other guy, and not be labeled a 'fanboy". But it's a boxing forum, and race, nationality are always going to bring out the inner ******* when it comes down to people talking about their fighters.
What irks me is you got the same few posters, talking about the same fighters, then claim they are true boxing fans. How come I don't see them talking about Tszyu, Pea, Hearns, Duran, Hagler, Chacon, SRL, Pryor? Or any other of the greats of the past. Why? Because they CAN'T. They know their "BOY", and thats it.
Oh, and to that one guy saying has Margarito never lost to a shorter fighter, WRONG. Larry Dixon was 5'8. So put that in your pipe, and smoke it....(Had to end it on a NSB type note...)

        .
No it shouldn't be a problem. But if that's the issue, I'd appreciate a confession of the fact here and there.

If you like Williams because he's black, just say so, and that'll be the end of it.

Couldn't tell you, maybe it's the fact he is black. I really haven't noticed anything to be honest.
