anyone who thinks height has to do with how big someone is, is ill-informed.

Celestine Caballero is 5'10. look at what weight he fights at.

Does that imply that he should be like, a real WW or JMW or something? No. It just means that he's a total ****ing bean pole.

Look at how Chico was. He was just about 6'0.

His best weight was 130 or 135, end of story. It had nothing to do with him using a "height and reach" advantage (which he had, but never utilized)......it was the fact that he was a little guy.

Seriously, most of the guys in the welterweight division aren't true welterweights (Williams, Clotty, Margarito, Cintron) and could easily fight at higher weights. And that can be said with all weight classes.

BUT, that's how the game works. The weigh-in is the day before the fight, so until that changes don't get mad at the fighter for making weight, get mad at the system in place.

I agree. Either you can make weight, or you can't.

The strange thing is that people act like tall Welterweights are a new thing. People act like Williams is an anomoly. He is a freak of nature for sure, but late 80's/early 90's Welterweights were all pretty big too. Williams just happens to be the tallest and rangiest of the bunch.

Blocker, McCrory, Breland, Trinidad, Davis, Curry, etc etc. All around 6'0 or more...and lengthy as all hell. Tommy Hearns too. I know I have said this before, but it applies here.
