If Calzaghe beat Pavlik would anyone give Calzaghe respect????

Now I'm sure we will see everybody say that Calzaghe will get maximum props for beating Pavlik if he did so, but we Calzaghe fans have very good reason to doubt this. How shall I put this? The posers of boxingscene tend to take what I would call a revisionist attitude after Calzaghe beats someone, no matter what was said before:

For anyone else reading, when the poll has sunk back down to the depths from which I dredged it, I made a poll asking if Calzaghe would get respect for beating Hopkins, the results were:

90% Yes
10% No

This is a thread asking if Joe would get respect for beating Pavlik....

No offense that comes with reason. many feel that beating Kessler/Lacy and an old Hopkins doesn't get you 2nd on the P4P list. In my opinion, that is where the disrespect comes from. Like I said, I will bring this thread back up when the fight happens.

Weird that you'd say that becuz I remember alot of people saying Calzaghe wasn't gonna get they're respect because Hopkins is old but that it would be a good test. Btw I was one of those people. Pavlik is a young proven fighter... Calzaghe will get his respect.

It is very easy to be wise after the fact, and hindsight can be made to fit your viewpoint. Facts are the poll said yes, but boxingscene changed its mind after the result.

Yes, I remember a variety of opinion, so I made a poll to gauge what the boards true feelings were, I felt it was the only way to find out once and for all. My survey said....

90% yes - Calzaghe will be respected if he beats Hopkins
10% no - Calzaghe will not be respected if he beats Hopkins

It's pretty clear cut.
