very simple he was head hutting all the time.and as stated many a time before marga's face is made a stone, he took cintrons bombs he was gonna take cotto's.remeber kill the body the head will fall.his body work was absent.the best body puncher in the world didn't use his bread and butter.marga was not gonna be denied, he knew if he lost this fight he was headed to boxing siberia cause nobody was gonna fight him.

OK then tell me why did Cotto opt to go headhunting for pretty much the whole fight rather than going to the body as he normally does against a taller fighter? just when everyone was calling out this prediction months before the fight, how Cotto was going to destroy Tony's ribs and smaller midsection.

The same people who said that Cotto is a smart fighter than can adjust to every situation and opponent, then why couldn't he use that logic against Margarito if he saw that the headshots were not doing the job? Hmmm let me think, could it possibly be that he just couldn't find any openings on Tony's mid-section guard and couldn't openly trade in on the inside with a dangerous puncher like Margarito? trust me, Cotto had 6 rounds to figure this out before succumbing to his demise.

The first time they head butted in the 1st round and it was stopped so that isn't a fight, the second time it went 9 rounds that's a fight.

And Margo was getting his ass handed to him, it didn't matter if the fight was in Margo's back yard...he was gonna get trashed either way.

Cotto said he was having a hard time reaching the body which is why he wasn't effective in that area.

Simple...

He couldn't find his shots! Margarito had a low defense expecting that from Cotto, he tasted Cotto's power on the first rounds and was never hurt, he was confident his chin will hold up and walked through hell to wear Cotto down. Cotto dare not trade with Tony on the inside because the fight would of ended earlier.

you cant throw or commit to body shots unless you sit down on them..if he sat down on his punches instead of boxed. it would have been good night ..a lot earlier...

homework!!! if u look of at the few body shot that cotto threw at margarito you do notice that all he hit was margarito elbows that why he could not hit the body.. that plan was to outbox him with speed, which was working until 6 round.....
