Diaz wasn't a world class fighter I know, but he was a champion. The reason this fight was good is because Pacquiao showed that he was leagues above the average champion. All i'm saying
It would have been good if Calzaghe completely owned Hopkins at 43, but he didn't..that's why Calzaghe get's ripped on 24/7 about being overrated. If he Destroys Jones it will have the same effect as Pacquiao Diaz, both were average opponent's (Jones being Old and past it, Diaz being young but not extremely talented).
It still won't get him a p4p no.1 though, his career beforehand wasn't anything great in comparison to Pacquiao's resume.

You need to watch more Hopkins fights if you think he was at his best.
a 43 year old Hopkins isn't amazing competition, I don't know what you are smoking.
Diaz was at least younger, and he wasn't coming up in weight.

"BEST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD" lol come one..... I would agree 100% if the thread starter said JOE CALZAGHE IS THE BEST BOXER IN WALES. If one wants to speak of facts. That is the FIRST fact on this thread!

They call Kessler the best boxer active today
They called Mundine legitimate Champion
They think Benn. Eubank would beat RJJ IN HIS ****ING RPIME
They said Dimitri Sartison would beat a Prime Hopkins
They claim RJJ ducked Calzaghe
Hopkins come into the fight with Calzaghe with a higher status and better wins and higher on P4P list and knocked out Calzaghe at 43 years old and Calzaghe said Hopkins was his hardest fight yet they don’t believe that.
My threads were leading up to his. You guys are pathetic
First and foremost I'm a Joe Calzaghe fan because he's British. I don't deny it and I see no reason to, just as US boxing fans wouldn't be ashamed to support US boxers. Calzaghe's resume isn't what it maybe should be, but some people are ridiculous in their negative analysis of it. You can make any resume look **** if you try hard enough and have enough of an agenda. Most of the people just hold an irrational hatred and won't/can't listen to any reasoning. They say it their way and that's it, they won't even debate about it, which shows true idiocy. I hope you're not one of them.
Claims about his apparantly poor resume and his slapping punch style are smokescreens for the real reason he inspires hatred with some posters though. It comes down to a few reasons:
1. He isn't American.
2. He hasn't boxed in America much.
3. He is undefeated.
I wouldn't call it xenophobic because it isn't specific to one nation, but I would call it American arrogance. Arrogance that America produces the best boxers and arrogance that it's impossible to prove yourself a World champion if you haven't boxed in America. Harsh truths that many American posters won't/can't accept.
