could ali brawl?????????

would a prime ali have had the power/chin to plant his feet and slug it out on the inside...i know it wouldnt have suited his style im just curious

Ali in the beginning of his career could move and stick like a man floating around the ring on a magic carpet. he had no need to brawl at all. People then said he couldn't punch well lets take a look at his record and show and tell a few things he was 56 - 5 with 37 KO's he had only been knocked out 1 times by larry Holmes and he was 38 years old. He took a left hook from joe Fraizer in the super fight that would have put most other boxers in a coma and got up at the count of 3. He KO'd great like Ron Lyle, George Foreman, Floyd Patterson, Jimmy Ellis, Sonny Liston, and Archie Moore. He was 6'3 220 lbs with a lighting quick jab to the head and the body. he had a long range left hook and threw some vicious uppercuts. Could he have knocked out more of his oppenents? Well the answer I think is YES. he rather move and stick and take less punishment and have his oppenents use and lose energy. If the KO came late in the bout and the opportunity presented it self to Ali he finished them. Much like many fights styles make fights and Fraizer brought the best out in Ali and made those fights brawls. Back and forth action and until this day they remian some of the best Heavy Weight bouts.

So to answer your question Ali's chin had IRON in it he had a jab that struck like lightining and upper cuts that sounded like thunder. There is no doubt in my mind that if Ali had to he could brawl with the best of them. i mean just watch his fight against George Foreman and you will see him take those punches and absorb all that punishment and when the time was right turn his opponent around and put it on him.....Lefty
