I applaud Cotto for his warrior's mentality. Get back in there with an upper-echelon type of fighter. The key to this fight is if he still fights with the same aggression. However, I would pick Cintron by KO at this point! Only Margarito and Paul Williams can take big shots and keep throwing and coming. By the third flush right-hand that Cintron connects on, by the 3rd round, Cotto will be hurt and Cintron will finish. But mark my words, the fight will happen in Puerto Rico.
Miguel Cotto is Ready - "I Would Fight Kermit Cintron"

This is a good start back on the road with the top guys for him. I believe he will beat Cintron, especially if he gets himself on the inside, because Cintron can't fight well on the inside. The right hand is what he needs to worry about if Cintron keeps distance, which is most likely what he will do, or try to do.
Read the last line of the article:
"Cotto also said that at some point down the line, he wants a rematch with Margarito."Comment

I can't believe a lot of you guys are writing Cotto off. He took a hell of a beating against Margarito but he is all but done. Cintron might have the one-punch power in his right to knock any Welter out, but he doesn't have the skill or heart to match Cotto to stay in the ring for more then 8 rounds.
Cintron has frightening power but he is not a top Welter. I see a stoppage in favour of Cotto in round 7/8.Comment

Last week, promoter Lou DiBella told BoxingScene.com that he would love to match his new fighter, Kermit Cintron, against Miguel Cotto. DiBella told BoxingScene that such a fight would produce a lot of fireworks and makes a lot of sense since both fighters want to fight again in the fall, both are coming off knockout defeats at the hands of Antonio Margarito, and both are former welterweight champions from Puerto Rico. Cotto would have to fight Cintron like he fought Margarito, I know Cintron dont put as much preasure but he has that K.O power in both hands.Comment

props to cotto for again having a big set of balls, and getting in with another dangerous puncher.Comment

nah mang'..Marg is a hell of a inside fighter..is why Cotto stayed away when he could. CIntron isnt....he needs to get inside Cintron and rip that body.Comment

People seem to think the Cotto vs. Margarito contest was some sort of one-sided, one punch did the trick, sandblasting KO. Cotto took more punches than anyone in the division could have stood up to, and he was never KO'd. His corner threw in the towel. It was also obvious to anyone with those things called eyes that Cotto grossly over-hydrated following the weigh-in. He was bound to suffer a drain in stamina as a result.
Cotto boxed beautifully in that fight, and he showed good defensive skills early on. He made mistakes though. When he would counter-punch Margarito, he needed to follow it up with a little pressure to the body or a clinch. Instead, he just tried to dance away, allowing Tony to always be the guy coming forward. It's easier to go forward than it is backwards, and when both guys can take a good punch, the one going forward will usually win. Miguel had opportunities to stop the forward-movement, thus conserving his own energy while sapping some of Tony's and coasting to a UD victory, but he squandered them by perpetually bicycling.
He will be better prepared next time, while Margarito will be the exact same guy.
Cotto will have a game plan for Cintron. I highly doubt that his confidence has been shaken, and his work ethic won't diminish in any way. He'll outbox Cintron, and then rip into the body to finish him off.Comment

I agree. He should have got his shots off, CLINCH..get off the ropes and box..then repeat.
Floyd would have clinched a lot.. got his pop shots off and Clinched....he's smart like that..Comment

very easy fight for cotto, cintron is a *****, the guy has not heart or fighting spirit, cotto will rip him a new ass hole
the body punching and the hand speed would be way too much for the over hyped cintron who has beat no on of note and the only time he has stepped up was against tony and he got his ass handed to him twice, cotto was out classing tony between rounds 1 and 6 before the broken nose and constant pressure from tony broke him down!!!!
cotto early stoppage from round 2 to 6 i would go forComment
