"The IBO belts are a joke."

Why do many boxing fans seem to believe this?

many people try to discredit belts. Reality is to become a world champion is a great accomplishment. There is millions of boxers all over the world and for you to win a world championship is something us fans will never come close to doing so we really have no say so in what belts are garbage. That IBO champ will knock out whatever posters said that with ease! I see being ranked top 10 or even 25 in THE WORLD shows you are indeed a great boxer a have had a good career!!

I remember when the IBO took out an ad in Ring Magazine talking about how they were the organization recognizing the Tarver-Johnson 1 fight as a world title fight. I knew from then that boxing was on it's way to further confusion.

WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, Ring Magazine and now IBO.

What is the average fan supposed to think?

I couldnt tell the difference between one sanctioning body from another. I have no idea what makes one better than the other.

IBO is never considered, when it comes to belts. And besides, it is a daughter belt of IBF.

The best way is just to not recognize it. It's a joke and a minor belt. It's what the WBO when it first started out.

people still think calzaghes title reign was legit and his 20 defenses mattered. wrong. he didn't even have a real belt most of the time. imagine some clown making 20 defenses of the ibo belt nowadays. no one would/should care. The WBO twice moved Darrin Morris up in its super-middleweight rankings in 2001, despite the fact that he was dead.

Because all alphabet belts are a joke. Doesn't matter what 3 (or sometimes 4) letters you try to throw together.

Calzaghe fought actually legitimate contenders and the WBO belt became "real" in like the 2000s.
