No actually what he said was when asked about Cotto, was..
" I want to retire the sport of boxing I dont want boxing to retire me"..
Im guessing Cotto is "boxing" since he said that after he was asked if he would fight Miguel..SlowlowblottoComment

Watch the video of the fight. It was after the fight when Lampley and Merchant were ringside discussing the fight. Floyd came up to them and started talking. Perhaps you were so happy he won that you missed it? Most people leave the tv area once the winner is announced.
Do you really believe I need to make **** up? You may not like what I have to say, but you will respect my honesty in regards to boxing.
I guess Floyd retiring wasn't enough to prove that he didn't want to face the best welterweights.
Search this one.
"I'm not out to prove who the best fighter is".
I don't think those were his exact words. I think it was more along the lines of he has nothing else to prove in the welterweight division. Don't quote me on that though.
I'm paraphrasing and may be off just a touch, but his intentions were laid out that night.

I wqs not making an I HATE FLOYD THREAD SIR..I just have seen a few thread questioning whether or not Cotto could have or should have continued...questioning if he is a quitter or not...My replies ot those posts were I think Zab Judah is a BUM AND A QUITTER...and also i wonder if or who else out there could have taken the same punishment while winning the fight and then succumb to the damage....Maybe Floyd could have taken those shots and kept on his feet fort eh 11th and 12th and took the decision over Margarito???? I think this is a valid thread and not an I hate thread ....LeftyComment
