He wasn't afraid of anybody, he was chasing down Jones for years (even though that probably would have went like Jones v Woods). Remember in his 17th pro fight he challenged Mike McCallum for the Middleweight Championship.
he lost but that showed some balls.

what where his only losses? mccallum and johnson right?

Are we talking about the same Steve Collins that would rather Vacate his WBO SUPERMIDDLE WEIGHT TITLE rather than face his No1 contender Joe Calzaghe !
Calzaghe then fought for Collins vacated WBO title against the No2 contender Chris Eubank and the rest is history !
Infact if you watch this video of after Eubank v Calzaghe ,Eubank clearly has a go at steve collins for dodging Calzaghe!

Steve Collins was a true warrior, I've had to re-think my thoughts on him several times. Of late I'm reaching the conclusion Benn nor Eubank were as past prime as made out, but a little. There's a lot of exaggerating of past prime fighters imo.

Eubank did well in outboxing Collins at some points but didn't quite have the adapting or skillset to beat him. Calzaghe would however, outbox him with his speed, adapting his stance, tactics and responding well to being hurt if he did. Calzaghe UD, infact same goes for Benn or Eubank prime for prime. Benn for one admits it.

He lost a decision to a chap called Kalambay aswell, right after the Johnson fight. So it was 3 losses total.

Joe Calzaghe pulled out of the fight with Glen Johnson, maybe he knew he'd lose also.

I may upset a few here but i dont really rate Collins at all
He was a tough guy had a solid chin but thats about it..

His 2 big wins against Eubank and Benn were against 2 shot fighters
Benn looking even worse then Eubank.
Has for Eubank he clearly lost the ability to destory someone once he had
them hurt.He held back and he was mentally shagged in the fight with collins
Had both been in there primes i think both would of beaten Collins..

Same for Joe he would of beaten Collins as well..
U may say i dont rate collins highly and guess what i dont....
