I dunno, I can't remember who was fighting but they said that the areana was packed at the time. Today it looks pretty quite though, It should pick up as it gets towards the medal fights

I know I am beating a dead horse here, but I saw a match at 141 between a Aussie and a Morroccian. And I almost threw my beer at the TV in frustration at the ****ing scoring. The match itself was quite good. But man, the Olympic scoring system BLOWS....

The sad thing is Olympic Boxing used to be one of the most packed events.
I remember watching that old film of roy jones jr robbery in 1988 and it was packed with 20 thousand people.
prior to that there was 10 to 15 thousand during each boxing event.

Thats because those were the medal events dumass. The stadium will be just as packed for the boxing medal events.

do they have little sensors in the gloves or do they only cound when the white part touches flush and clean on the foe?

There a are 5 judges, The punch has to land with the white part of the glove on the 'target area' of the oppenent. Then 3 of the 5 judges have to press the scoring button within 1 second of each other for a point to be scored..

and I watched the 2004 olympics and 2000 and the medal rounds were not packed at all.

if you wanna see packed look at the Gymnastics qualifier that was on earlier it wasnt even a medal round it was just a qualifier and the arena was filled with close to 20 thousand people.

thats possibly the most non effective way of scoring because they gotta have the clicks basically at the same time to get a point.

The problem is. They are all at different angles so body shots are pretty much never scored, and some shots are missed cause of judges at different sides not seeing it.
