Vitali will Clean up the Division

it's not that he's running - he begged Lewis for a rematch. It's just a matter of circumstances...
But look, if he beats Williams, people will say "Well the Williams - Tyson thing was an obvious fluke" - Then Toney can't make the mandatory #1 spot because he tears another muscle - then the WBC may or may not come up with a good opponent for him. There's 3 other belts - Rahman/Meehan may be fighting for the WBO - is anyone going to call Vitali vs. the Owen Beck/Monte Barrett winner a dream match?Comment

Yes, but Corrie already had the mindset that he was retiring prior to the Wlad fight and had an injury and poor conditioning prior to the Vit fight. I wouldn't say he "mailed it in" - he took a lot of punishment, but the Sanders that fought Rahman wasn't the Sanders that fought Vitali.Originally posted by NeuraxisYes we have had this conversation before. You are really underestimating Sanders this time though. He landed a flush shot on Vitali and it didn't put him down. Sanders KD'd Rahman and dominated the early rounds against him which he was unable to do against Vitali.
I know that Sanders has asked the WBO to rank him again - maybe another 900,000 will make him put off his golf pro gig - but in a better, more skilled division - Sanders is done. He has a big punch, but that's really not all that special at the heavyweight level when accompanied with nothing much else.Comment

No, so I guess the moral of the story is that no matter who Vitali beats, it is going to be hard for people to give him the credit that he deserves because the division is so weak.Originally posted by neils7147933it's not that he's running - he begged Lewis for a rematch. It didn't matter what the division looked like when Tyson came in and starting knocking everyone out.
Klitschko is a plain, uninteresting fighter. He needs to come up with some big KOs - and he needs to work on his personality!
Vit:
Call out some guys, make some faces in the ring - look like the beast that your frame allows. Hit these bums with a vengeance.
And quit talking about your lesser brother in all your damn interviews. Nobody cares that you want him to carry a belt, too, so you guys can pose with them in some more fruity photos.
Learn some American slang - work on the accent. You're in LA now - Hollywood yourself. The heavyweight division is ugly. You've gotta make it pretty - and if your opponents can't do it, you have to.
Of course, this has to do more with image than skill. But I might cut some slack for a guy that wasn't just as boring as John Ruiz during interviews and in his corner.
It took Lennox a long time to get some respect. His wins over Francois Botha and Frank Bruno and Oliver McCall were nothing for him. It took Holyfield and Tyson to get Lewis over - and that's the truth.Comment

It's not just non-sports watching folks, it's everyone who's not an avid boxing fan - who is the recognizable heavyweight force? It's Holyfield, Tyson - they're maybe not viewed as the top guys, but people know them. When Tyson fought Williams, ESPN radio actually cared. Those guys never talk about any other heavyweight fighter for more than 1-2 minutes.
Vitali needs to (likely) TKO Williams and hold his belt up defiantly. Then when old Larry Merchant starts to ask, "Tell us about the stoppage" - Vit grabs the mic and says, in plain English he's been practicing "Chris Byrd - I want rematch. I even give up my belt for rematch. Don King - Ball is in your court."
Then he walks off.
We need something like that - nobody cares which alphabet belt you've got - go call out the only active guy to beat you.
And if the fight can't come off, it's Byrd and King looking ******. You just keep KO'ing dudes.
But Vitali ducking Golota...I can't get behind this guy yet.Comment

basically, everyone knows that the HW division is garbage, and Vitali is the only bright spot in it. He is "The Man" because he almost beat "The Man" at the time in LL and he disposed of the the man that beat who was supposedly next in line to be "The Man"(Wlad
) in Corrie Sanders. Let's all just give Vitali his props as we watch him clear out this division. Destroy and Rebuild some might say.....
