because Pavlik deserves more respect than Calzaghe, and honestly Hopkins beat Calzaghe in their fight.

Me too. Bernard had the fight he just gassed out and threw zero punches. Then JC did his patented windmill slap to win an ugly, unimpressive SD.

Not sure if you realise but there are other aspects to boxing than knockout power. For instance I dont think Pavlik could change tactics half way through a tight fight he is losing and have the heart to come out on the other side as a winner. He's not been tested like that yet, so we will have to wait and see.
Here in America we like to see flush punches to the faces, we don't get off on the super windmill slaps.

Here in the UK those windmill slaps remind us of our long-forgotten agricultural heritage.

I think he respects pavlik more. He said a lot of positive things about kelly prior to making the fight. In the interview he seemed pretty sincere when he said he became a fan of pavlik after he beat taylor, not just because he beat the guy that beat Hopkins, but because he earned his right to be champion, he was never given any easy opportunities. Also he said he has the heart of a Philly fighter and that he comes from a working class town so he's a true blue collar guy

              American garbage.

Not a big fan of Hopkins but i hope he gives this Pavlik the Americans harp on about a rough ride.

Why the schoolyard mentality? There seem to be a lot of posts where you're either ranting about Calzaghe as if he stole your lunch money or gushing over Pavlik as if he just asked you to the prom. This thread has both.

Your argument seems to be that it's meaningful that Hopkins has not disrespected Pavlik as he disrespected Calzaghe.

There is over two months to go until the fight, but still you compare the situation to the entire run-up to and aftermath of the Calzaghe-Hopkins. And if Hopkins ends up saying worse things about Pavlik than he did about Calzaghe? I'm sure you won't consider it meaningful.

Presumably you don't just selectively apply this logic when it suits you, right? I mean I take it you also think that Tito and Tarver are not respectable? Because Hopkins certainly disrespected both of them.

The trash-talk from Hopkins will come soon enough.

yeah he has shown tremendous respect, which from the outset of this match being made i was afraid that hopkins, my favorite fighter, was going to make it ugly, which i was fearing because next to him i like pavlik, so it's actually relieving to me to see them conduct themselves, especially hopkins, in this manner.

i personally think that hopkins has kelly's power and workrate in the back of his mind and is more focused on making sure he doesn't get ko'd. so there is no reason to talk made **** if you know that there is a posibility that you might get ko'd, no sense making it worse by **** talking then getting ko'd.

i personally think too, that hopkins might have learned a lesson a bit about playing the race card because i think that it affected the judging in his last fight, personally. because after watching that fight about a 100 times at home and having seen it live, ringside, i dtill don't see how calzaghe got the nod..................old news, don't get but hurt because i don't think calzaghe won, he got the win, it was just academic, which also i still don't see how they racked up all those landed punches either because more than half were in non scoring areas..................but that is just me.....
