Hmmm, I'm not sure I agree. If Williams won on a decision then I would agree that the rubber-match is in order and a must before fighting Margarito again. The only thing here is that the first fight was close with Williams in obviously bad shape or just having a terrible night, but, in the rematch he showed that he is the vastly superior fighter by knocking him out in the first round! It did not even get close to the second round, so there is really no point in a third fight. The better fighter has already been shown.

Rubber-matches are needed when it's difficult to tell who the better fighter is by only two fights. Like Pac vs Marquez. That needs a rubber-match but if there has been two fights and the first was close, but the second was a first round knock-out and completely dominant then a third fight isn't really needed.

If Quintana had put up anything close to a fight and maybe gone half way, a third fight could be needed, but I would think anything less than a decision or a close late fight TKO and a third fight is not needed. This was as brutally dominant as it gets though with the first round KO.

Yep. Exactly. Margarito didn't finish his business at all, whereas Williams put a very definite 'finished' stamp on his by knocking out his guy in the first round. That's it! Over and done with. Margarito has a fair bit of unfinished business it seems. Daniel Santos as well as Williams. One could even add in Clottey now that he has a 'title'.

Let's not bring up anymore contradictory statements about unfinished business eh?
