It will be a close fight that will go pavliks way because he is a undefeated star, they can't have him lose to a past it 43 year old veteran.

Ok, picture this scenario: Hopkins, having been on the wrong end of the three close decisions in the past few years, uses a bit more energy and tries to win rounds more decisively. He works harder than in previous fights. Pavlik hasn't fought at 170 before, doesn't have a great D and has a simplistic style. He may end up losing a lot of the early rounds, and looking at Pavlik vs Taylor+McKart, as well as Hopkins vs Calzaghe, maybe Hopkins scores an early KD.
Fast forward a few rounds, and not only does Pavlik start to come back into the fight, but Hopkins starts to tire as he did against Calzaghe. It doesn't matter if you're Hopkins, Ray Robinson or Willie Pep; when you are tired, you're easier to hit, and when you get hit, it hurts more than it would usually, especially when you're at that age.
Pavlik doesn't have one punch KO power, especially at 170. Hopkins does have a very good defense and chin. But a tired Hopkins vs a Pavlik that needs a KO to win?
It could happen...
I'm not saying that I'm certain of it, but we've never seen Pavlik need a KO to win before, and I certainly think it's possible that Hopkins' age catches up with him. In my opinion this is one fight too far for him.Comment

Youd have to trust Roach who has been working with him a long time that its time to pack it in. Hes never been a big puncher that could bail himself out and it really is a young mans sport. Pavlik is much more dangerous than Calzaghe, plus he's younger. Hopkins could get hurt here and it isn't even worth it.Comment

While it may be good advice let's not trust everyting Roach says, he refused to train Vazquez any more after the first Marquez fight, saying he's beginning to studder his words and likely brain damaged. I think he was wrong big time on that.
He's overly cautious with his fighters, and who can blame him?Comment
