I forget what the match makers name is but yes, Arum and the Top Rank team deserve credit for a lot of today's biggest stars. De La Hoya, Pavlik, Cotto, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Margarito, etc. It's no coensidence they have all came from under the same banner.

I dont give him the amount of credit people on here give him. I think a lot of his new found popularity can be attributed to what his team does for him. They are the ones putting him out there trying to get him recognition, trying to get him as a known figure in boxing.

to me, Bob and Top Rank had long been spoiled by the factor that they had Fernando Beltran feeding him Mexican fighters. It's no secret that Arum gave Beltran fighters better wages, better TV slots, and more of a promotional push than non Beltran managed Mexican fighters like Martin Castillo and Tony Margarito. Guys like Morales, JL Castillo, Jorge Arce, and even JCC Jr all had the type of promotional push a guy like Margarito is only enjoying recently. The fact that Tony's two biggest fights until 2008, his first fight with Cintron and his fight with Williams, were both promoted by other companies and not TR.

Tony's hard work, his management team, and his will to succeed is more a reason for his success than TR and more specifically a promoter who hopes you lose your biggest fight

So i ask you does arum give a **** about margarito and does he deserve credit for margarito's success? Arum has promoted Margarito like crazy for years now! He's reached out to winky, shane, mayweather looking for big fights for him only to get turned down. He secured a match with him last year with miguel cotto and margarito chose to fight his mandatory...lost and yet arum gets him another title shot and then puts him in the biggest fight of the year against miguel cotto and is now the ww champ. So does arum really not give a **** about margarito? He's been quoted many times stating the importance of mexicans and the ppv they generate. So does he not care about margarito like Luciano claims???

Luciano you are on ignore for this thread so we dont have to hear your dumb ass **** in this thread. I will let the posters decide and to be fair to your **** ass i will not post in this thread either. Poll is public.

I think Bob cares about all his fighters or else he would have never put Miguel in there with Margarito if he didnt want to do what was right..MArgarito desereved a shot and he got it.

this is how haters act when someone they dont like wins..they start trying to diss promoters?? lol....

"“He told me (Fields) couldn’t fight,” Arum said. “That’s the last time I’ll ever doubt him. I’ve learned my lesson.”"

I think that guy Trampler matched up guys like De La Hoya, Floyd and Morales so perfectly, he knew what they could and couldnt do, even when people were complaining that they were throwing floyd to the wolves, he obviously knew he could do it, even when people thought de la hoya being dropped early in his career showed him as being "exposed" obviously Trampler knew otherwise, dude is smart.

Arum doesn't deserve anything. He is a sneaky businessman who uses his fighters as sacrifical lambs to build his investments in other more popular fighters. The most recent example is David Diaz and Antonio Margarito, everyone knew when the Diaz-Pacquiao fight was made that it was just an excuse for Pacquiao to win a belt at lightweight. There was better fights that could've been made but Arum chose to throw Diaz in with Pacquiao. Arum threw Margarito in with Cotto thinking that Cotto would walk all over Margarito. Why was Arum already planning Cotto's next fight and didn't have anything to say about Margarito? But that's the business side of boxing I guess!

Bob's best move when it comes to Tony was putting him in soft against Golden Johnson, who was riding a spirited win over Oscar Diaz, and making Tony look like a beast while having the HBO team scream that Tony is back with this win. That moved Tony back into the picture

too bad it took 15 years to happen
