    Unpopular Opinions

Do you have any unpopular opinions in the boxing world? Is there a fighter you think is a bum despite a lot of hype? Do you think a decision a particular fighter got was a robbery despite everybody agreeing with it?

Here 1 of mine at the moment.

    1: Antonio Margarito isn't exciting
I don't see it. I don't like many fighters, so I don't have a rooting interest in him, so I don't see how anybody outside of 'fans' can really find him fun to watch. A fight has the possibility to end 4 ways 99% of the time: Fighter A by T/KO, Fighter A by decision, Fighter B by T/KO, and Fighter B by decision. Margarito essentially eliminates one of the most exciting options since he basically wont be knocked out. While this is a point that makes people like him if they're fans, as somebody who doesn't like him I see it as a selling point.

2: Abraham dominated Miranda in their first fight
I received a lot of flack the day of this fight after posting about how even with his broken jaw and fighting off of his back foot he was still beating Miranda in a lot of rounds. I've since watched the fight again and still have absolutely no way of Miranda even being close on the cards. If you take away all of the point deductions then the score gets close, but I think I still had Abraham ahead by a point.

You can try to debate mine or other's opinions if you want, but if they're posting them they're all ready aware of it being unpopular and are used to responses. Try not to post fights that are 50/50 and say you can't believe how they gave it to a particular fighter or crap like that.

    1. Jermain Taylor is not very good.

I don't understand the hype with Taylor, or why so many consider him 'gifted'. To me is nothing more than a decent boxer who does a lot of things well, but nothing brilliantly. He has no major weapons and I doubt he'll win another meaningful world title.

    2. Kelly Pavlik is a hypejob

His best wins come over Edison Miranda (rubbish) and Jermain Taylor (see above). He is slow, predictable and has an average chin.

    3. Mikkel Kessler is one of the best boxers in the world

To me Kessler has it all, if you're prepared to accept an orthodox boxer. He has speed, power, is technically sound. His performance against Librado Andrade was one of the most skilled displays of orthodox boxing I've seen. I think he would beat anyone from MW to LHW right now, except of course Calzaghe.

On 1. I can agree with you to an extent. He isn't very 'skilled', has poor D and is very slow. To find him exciting you have to be a fan, which I am.

      2. I agree completely. That was why it was so easy to pick Abraham in the rematch. He did win plenty of rounds in the first fight, which was why I found it ridiculous that Miranda supporters were claiming he would win the second because he 'should have won the first'. Hello? Abraham's jaw was hanging off and Miranda still couldn't dominate him.

So you're saying that Calzaghe is the best fighter in the universe, and all of his potential rivals in the middleweight divisions are a waste of time. Right...

As you can see, unpopular opinions.

My post wasn't really about Calzaghe, but since you ask, I don't think its that radical an opinion to believe the P4P #2 is better than any of his competition. Maybe I'm wrong...

I don't feel arthur abraham is this great boxer, and scary fighter many claim. he is in the turtle shell, 75 pct of the fight, and once in a while he lets go with wide and reckless shots. his defense is overrated, all he does is cover up, and go to the ropes. he does not slip punches, or counter punch well wither. he is not a very good boxer. i also think his work rate / stamina is not so great. i will give him good power, but he is not the hardest punch in the sport as many claim. i think he loses to pavlik, kessler, taylor, and obviously calzaghe.

Your Euro/Brit nutriding is really bad. I mean really bad. Let's break down your real agenda. Shoot down Taylor to make Pavlik look bad. Shoot down Pavlik because you know he poses a real threat to blowboy and would probably come out as a favorite. Hype up the one decent person Calzaghe has beat.

Rankings are numbers, you still have to fight. It's all about seniority, guys like Pacquiao and Calzaghe have been around for a long time so they earned it, but it doesn't mean they can't lose.

My unpopular opinion is that if Calzaghe fights Hypejob Pavlik, the hypejob would win.

Pacquiao's number one, but if he fought enough of the top lightweights, he'd lose as well.

There are people at 147 who aren't ranked on the P4P list who would beat Antonio Margarito. In fact, they already have.

Kessler is good, but if anything the example you gave of Andrade, was a product of hype. Andrade has shown nothing since or before that suggests he is a world class fighter, the only thing that is exceptional on him is his ability to take a punch.
