Boxing fans need boxing.. groupies need Mayweather.
I couldn't care less if he came back or if he didn't.
If he never steps foot in a ring again.. I don't give a F*k.

Max tries too hard to carve out a Merchant-like niche, and appears terrified every time he is on camera. However, he has an uncanny knack of speaking the truth, from the perspective of a hardcore fan.

He just needs to not talk about Robert Frost and Dylan Thomas or whatever it was he was going on about.

They feel the need to fight whoever is in the division.. whoever unifies the titles will be the best. Mayweather around or not. He may be the greatest super featherweight of our time but he sure as hell never proved he was the best welterweight.

Whether people like him or not doesnt matter at all. The reason people talk about him because he is one of the best welterweight fighters right now. And he is can make a great fight. People dont like him cause hes an ******* but they know the WW division isnt complete without him. And while he is retired he is saying he was one of the greatest of all time yet he has not fought any legit contenders yet.

that's contradictory wouldn't you say? the division isn't complete without him but he hasn't fought any contenders??

see Mayweather fans like to claim that he never gave a damn about the welterweight division.. but then they try to say he is the best welterweight around.. well then, which is it? either he fights everyone at welterweight since he is the best around or he doesn't because he isn't the best in the division and he didn't care about it in the first place.

              It's very contradictory and hypocritical.

That doesn't cut it...every WW wants a piece at Mayweather. Cintron, Cotto, Paul, and Margarito. They would rather fight Mayweather instead of anyone else besides DLH for money purposes

I think the problem a lot of people have with Mayweather retiring is that people want closure. The majority of the people just want to see the best fight the best in each division. The problem with Mayweather stating that he has nothing to prove his legacy is secure is that you cant simply have one portion of your career evaluated. Your legacy encompasses your entire body of work. And thats what Kellerman was hitting on when he said at welterweight your legacy is not secure. He never stayed in one devision long enough to completely own it and as he moved up he didn't technically fight the man of that devision. And i think thats where a lot of people have issues with Mayweather. Me personally i think he is one of the greatest boxers of my time but i have a hard time respecting him as a boxer. I think he could beat Margarito. I think he could beat Cotto. But I want him to go out and prove it. For all the brash talk the showing off pretty much everything he does, if he was to come back and handily beat any of the following fighters: cotto, Margorito, Williams, Mosley, Clottey (if he gets one more solid win), I would definetly give him the respect he would then deserve.

Mayweather is the best welterweight but he also doesnt give a **** about the division or boxing. Its like he worked his way to the top and beat everyone but as soon as he got to the top he was afraid to get it taken away so instead of giving fighters like margarito or cotto a fight he took the easier fights(hatton, DLH) and the bigger payday.

And im definetly not a Mayweather fan
