I honestly can't see Pavlik beating Calzaghe, styles make fights, Pavlik's style is made for Calzaghe and Calzaghe has a very good chin so even if Pavlik lands flush, it probably wouldn't do much, Pavlik would have to land repeatedly with the right hand which I don't think he would be able to do.
Pavlik nuthuggers, how does your man beat Calzaghe?

Nice analysis. Wish I could be so succinct. I agree and am amazed people can't see such simple things in fighters like this. People drag on about Pavliks powerful shots as if Calzaghe's never taken a punch and has been knocked down a good few times. Sorry fella's, not true.I honestly can't see Pavlik beating Calzaghe, styles make fights, Pavlik's style is made for Calzaghe and Calzaghe has a very good chin so even if Pavlik lands flush, it probably wouldn't do much, Pavlik would have to land repeatedly with the right hand which I don't think he would be able to do.Comment

Whilst I think Joe would probably beat Pavlik right now I think Joe started to show some signs that he is beginning to wilt in the B-Hop fight. If that trend continues Pavlik could well have the upper hand if they were to fight in late 2009.Comment

Pavlik comes to fight, people talked about how Jermain Taylor would be too quick also when they faced off in the ring. Both Pavlik and Calzaghe have been knocked down recently, however, both Pavlik and Calzaghe are those kind of fighters that becomes that much better when facing adversity..! Don't count out Pavlik, after all he would also have a punchers chance i a potential fightComment

I have to agree with JC#1 on this one. Joe Calzaghe does to Kelly Pavlik what he did to Mikkel Kessler, and probably stops him.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the "Ghost." But let's not go overboard. If Jermain Taylor didn't have a brain fart in the second round of their first fight (and had he any stamina), Kelly Pavlik would've been some chump Taylor stopped in two. And the rematch was pretty close.
Joe Calzaghe isn't Jermain Taylor. Stamina isn't an issue, neither is the ability to think in the ring. Furthermore, he'll be naturally bigger, stronger yet still faster and has shown a solid chin through over 20-something championship fights. Pavlik hasn't had to deal with something like that, and he'll find himself in some serious **** if he is getting backed up by a bigger man. I don't think he's ready for that and he's not a solid fighter if he's not going forward.
Just a bad styles match up, really.Comment

It and a push from Hopkins' shoulder sent Calzaghe down but it didn't hurt him. Pavlik isn't a 1 punch knockout kind of guy, he's a guy that breaks his opponents down then knocks them out which means he has to land repeatedly on his opponents, something I doubt he'd be able to do against Calzaghe.
Mikkel Kessler arguably hits harder than Pavlik with 1 punch and Calzaghe went nowhere when he got hit, which was very seldom.Comment
