    I say both.

Enzo Calzaghe is garbage, Joe has gotten by on natural talent.

Billy Graham is ****, so is Ricky Hatton

Emanuel Steward has molded Wladimir into the "HW Champion of the world" (atleast he's not gassing out by the 2nd round)

Yoel Judah never has anything constructive to tell his sons
"You gotta rumble with this *****!" Judah rumbling with Cotto was a disaster

I'll keep adding as I think of more examples.

      Best thing was Margarito's trainer.

"throw more punches" after Antonion threw over a 100
"throw faster, more powerful" after he only threw powerpunches and can't throw fast
telling him he should throw this and that
      etc etc

Trainers are most effective with young developing fighters. When someone like Ricky Hatton changes trainers late in his career, it's not going to make that much difference IMO. He is already a finished product.

          Agreed.

It all depends on where the fighter is at the stage of his career and whether he improves with the new/current trainer.

Agree definetly, seems he takes his serious very serious and doesnt mess around in the gym, Seems to make you train your ass off , then the results show during matches, He said one of the most important factors when it comes to training is conditioning and stamina

Evangelista doesnt even speak to Miguel, yet he has the balls to rob his nephew.

I look at a great fighter like B-Hop who applies everything his trainers have to say and Shane mosley who workds well with his pops.

Then I look at Pacquiao and Cotto who seem to train themselves

I say it depends on the fighter

Cotto could terminate him with two words, "you're fired". It's not like there wouldn't be a long line of trainers willing to replace him.
