Anyone who argues that the US isn't the centre of the fight game has no idea. You need to go there if you want to fight the best and be known as the best. Guys who stay in their home country and just fight comfort fights get no credit from me whatsoever.Comment

I was simply using Ottke as an example of my point as I think he is the clearest example.

The reason why the US in the centre of the fight game is $$$$. It is where the most money is on offer. It annoys me greatly when people criticise American fighters for not going over to Europe and fighting the protected champs over there when they would be sacrificing profit to do so. It makes no sense. What does make sense is for the Europeans to make the trip over to the US. By doing this they get the extra profit and recognition from the boxing public. Of course the majority of the top Europeans are not good enough so they just stay at home and earn less money fighting more comfortable fights.Comment

Don't feel the need to. I think the majority of the European champions are not up to the level they would need to be to travel to the best to fight in the US. Obviously there are exceptions but I think on the whole, most of them are pretty limited and generally protected. I really hope Mikkel Kessler does not fall into this category as I am a big fan of his however I do not like how his career is going right now.Comment
