Resume: Floyd without question (he has joe beat by miles in this department)

Better boxer: floyd. he's much better defensively and overall he's more technically sound and naturally talented/skilled.

Achievements: calzaghe's reign at 168 is very impressive however as far as career achievements go floyd is a 6 time champion in 5 different weight classes which is very impressive considering floyd's resume...given the quality of competition he's faced its much hard to be so successful in so many weight classes.

i dont think this is a very close arguement at all...

comparing floyd to oscar or trinidad or even hopkins or jones would be much more of a competitive arguement.

joe calzaghe does have one thing going for him and that is how impressed i am on how far he's gotten being trained by his father who doesnt really have a boxing background at all...he took his soon from nothing to something major...in europe calzaghe is probably THEE best active fighter...

for calzaghe to even be undefeated at this point his career is impressive.

granted floyd has been trained by his father and uncle but they were pro boxers...

so beyond that floyd really has calzaghe beat at every turn in this arguement.

Well, I guess you can add me to that list too. I'm certainly no biased troll though. For me this was not an easy decision, and certainly wouldn't argue with anyone who picked Floyd. Joe's wins over BHop and Kessler seal the deal for me. They are both undeafeated, GREAT fighters. However, Joe has far more title defenses AND he has a win over a top 10 all time great. Wish you had put an "its even" option on there.

i would say Floyd
people may disagree cause he never actually defended his WBC welterwight title against an actual welter but he did fight and beat the best he fought and to be a champ in 5 wieght division is a great achievement
Calzaghe however only of late has looked to test himself against world class competition if he was to have more notable wins on his resume then he would be a real chance of being considered better Calzaghe is still fighting and has a chance to be considered better maybe it should be revisted again in several years time when picking fighter of the decade
