Wlad was 22, but had only been fighting professionally for 2 years when he gassed out after 11 rounds against the durable Puritty (a 6'3", 250 lb HW.)Klitschko has over 40 fights right now, Haye only has 21. Since his career was longer than Haye's and he started years before, how is it right to put down Haye when he only had 10 fights at the time and Wlad already had 24? Klitschko didn't start fighting ranked opponents until he had over 30 fights. Haye has 21 fights, is already undisputed cruiserweight champion and was the best in his division. Haye ALSO was winning the fight and gassed out, just like your boy.
You say that Wlad was only 21 years, however he was the Olympic gold medalist and had a good amature background. Haye was only 24 at the time and only fought 10 bums. My point is that its just not right to critizise a fighter when Wlad has been through the same things and even worse. He has been stopped 3 times.
Thompson obviously wasn't shot. He was IBO cruiserweight champion. He was also a full fledge cruiserweight for his entire career and never fought at light heavyweight from what i remember.
I am a big fan of Haye and Wlad's becuase i like the big skilled punchers, but i am just fair on both sides.
Haye was 24 and had been fighting almost 2 years when he gassed out and was hurt badly after only 5 rounds against a 40 year old former LHW that had fought a couple of times at 171 lbs and had already been stopped 5 times, including twice at LHW. Haye's biggest bombs couldn't get this glass chinned journeyman out of there.
As recently as 8 months ago, Haye was floored by a 35 year old, inactive (6 fights in the previous 5 years) Mormeck, who was 1 fight off a KO loss to the very mediocre O'Neil Bell.
It is unfair to bring up Wlad's amateur background without bringing up Haye's which was also extensive. David has accomplished a lot in his almost 6 years as a pro, but his two biggest wins are the way past his best Mormeck and a glass chinned journeyman in Maccarinelli, and a year ago he was a virtual unknown. That he jumps to HW and expects to fight the number one guy already is laughable.
I would like to stop this "weight drained" excuse that I've been hearing a lot for Haye lately. In his HW fight against Bonin, he only weighed 217. Which means he was losing at most less than 8% water weight to fight at CW. Compare this with the 10+% that guys like Pac have been losing and it becomes a pathetic excuse.
At 236, Haye looks fat, and will certainly be slower. His conditioning will be worse and if he loses the speed advantage, he'll be lucky to be a top 50 HW with his chin and defense. I'd give anything to see him in there with a guy like Eddie Chambers, even Odlanier Solis, and end this hype train once and for all.Comment
