PPV buys last weekend? Cotto-AM

even though 375,000 would be pretty damn good for a "new york local" and an "unknown mexican fighter", why would you be happy for the fight not doing well on PPV? dont give any of this, "of course i would be unhappy, but im a realist and im looking at this from a business point of view" bull****. its obvious to everyone on this board that you and the rest of your homeboys would be ecstatic if the fight bombs. why? you're obviously happy that Cotto lost, if not you wouldn't decorate The Coalition tree house with images of a broken Cotto regardless of the fact that in all those bs anti Cotto threads you would make starting off with "first of all, i like Cotto, this isnt a hate thread" so my question to you from Boxing fan to supposed Boxing fan, why would that make ya happy amigo?Comment

Here's a few quotes from Kevin Iole's latest article:
Arum said the tracking of the pay-per-view results are encouraging As a result, Margarito will be able to get fights that wouldn’t have been remotely possible before.
Arum said buys on DirecTV were tracking about 50 percent better than Cotto’s November win over Mosley, which wound up selling 350,000 units.
“Something changed tonight,” Arum said. “This fight did tremendous numbers on pay-per-view. A great number of those who bought it were Mexicans, Mexican-Americans. Because of that, people who wouldn’t fight him before would be inclined to fight him because now the money rewards can be so great.
“It changes the whole parameter of who won’t or who will. Something happened tonight that changed everything, to (Margarito’s) benefit.”
Cotto earned a guarantee of $3 million but with his share of the pay-per-view returns, Arum said he likely made $7 million on Saturday for taking a frightful beating. Margarito made a guarantee of $1.5 million “and a whole lot more on pay-per-view,” Arum said.

If Arum was not exaggerating then the fight should have exceeded 500,000 PPV buys.Comment

I hope it does well, for Cotto's sake as he needs to be seen as a PPV attraction
but at the same time I would think that the justin.tv took away alotta potential viewers as that site was blowing up
hope it can get 500,000 buys but who knowsComment

Arum said they did very well so I'm guessing around 4 or 5k. It takes a long time cause all the greedy bastards have their hands in the cookie jar..."you know that."
Well guys, I'm sorry but we didn't do as good as we previously thought..."yea right"Comment

First,
I would win my bets not just here on boxingscene but here at home with My co-workers, and etc.
I already lost $20 dollars from this fight, it is time for me to recover.
Second
you said best yourself
"I'm a realist and I'm looking at this from a business point of view."
Cotto is not as marketable as his fans proclaim. So me knowing that truth about Cotto why not Capitalize on the beliefs of the cotto fans if they honestly believe their own hype??
Third
I have been hearing for almost a year now that Miguel Cotto has a bigger fanbase then Floyd Mayweather. Which probably the ******est thing I ever heard. So this Fight should either valid My claims or theirs about Cotto's real Appeal. If a 3 time P.P.V headliner Cotto, and 1 time P.P.V headliner Margarito Can not exceed the numbers Floyd did with a marginal name like Judah with no P.P.V experience. the same Judah- cotto did 220,000 P.P.V with.then something is wrong. Because Judah had no P.P.V experience at all and Floyd still sold 375,000 P.P.V on his name alone.with no countdown show.SO if Cotto has a bigger fan base then Mayweathers, then honestly this fight should do at the minimum on 375,000 P.P.V's since it had a countdown show. but actually do around 540,000 P.P.V's. the kinda Numbers Tito did against Fernando Vargas.
So I almost have I told you so approach to this situation. And I must admit it felt good to see Cotto Fans be brought back down to earth.
Because I honestly did and do feel that they went way to far in over hyping their fighter...
And I WARN THEM ABOUT THIS
(http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...41#post3595641)
And now they must answer to the truth about their fighter which i have be saying all along. I have nothing against Cotto, I just have something against weirdo Cotto fans trying to discredit Mayweather entire resume while acting Cotto actually fought a PRIME Young Active Highly ranked fighter before Margarito.
2.its obvious to everyone on this board that you and the rest of your homeboys would be ecstatic if the fight bombs. why?
My heart actually wanted cotto to do good but my head knew better about cotto's appeal, but remeber i did pick him to win.. I wanted him to become a great fighter. even to the point where he could be p4p#1 fighter in the world. So actually his lost kills my hopes too.Comment

Nobody here believes that you truly want to see this fight have a good buy rate. Really.Comment

if you read my post you would know that i said i didn't think this fight would do good..not that i didn't want it too do good..I wanted cotto to become so great that if Floyd fought him the win would not be discredited...Comment
