whoops that question mighta also been by me.

and at 36 years old, I would expect Joe Calzaghe to have one maybe 2 more fights tops after Jones Jr.

yeah I've heard oodles about Guzman, only seen 1 of his fights .. Soto but it was damn impressive as Joan pitched a virtual shutout while making Soto look incredibly awkward/clumsy throughout

some may say Guzman ran a bit much, but still he put on a show.

**don't miss Campbell vs Guzman as not only should it be a damn good fight, but 3 Alphabet belts are on the line as well.

I can't believe Casamayor vs. Marquez is on PPV and this isn't. I mean, I understand that Marquez is deemed by HBO to be a PPV star (he isn't by any means), but... I think Campbell vs. Guzman will have a much more profound impact on the sport currently and in the future. Thoughts?

Trust me, I'm not missing this one, even though we just got rid of both HBO and Showtime.

im strictly looking at it from an entertainment stand point (Nate/Guzman vs JMM vs Casamayor)

and then throw in the fact that 1 of em's PPV, even MORE reason to watch Campbell/Guzman

and I agree with the bold statement as after all Campbell does have the WBA, WBO and IBF 135 titles, which is just another reason why it'll be the more important fight.

Casamayor-Marquez may have The Ring title and name recognition, though

Trust me, I'm not missing this one, even though we just got rid of both HBO and Showtime.
haha yeah I have that problem to work around as well.

          Chad Dawson?

Alright, that settles it... I need a nap or something, because obviously my brain isn't ****ing working.

I have a feeling Dawson exits this group after the Tarver bout.

And in regards to Chris John, that reminds me of another fighter who refuses to fight real human beings... Zsolt Erdei!

Also, Linares is supposively the top prospect of greatness in the sport right now, along with Gamboa and Guzman...

We are getting quite the long list of undefeated fighters. I didn't realize so many were around that have actually proved themselves a bit.
Dawson is top tier because he is considered the future of the LHW division. Dawson has as much talent as Guzman, Linares and Gamboa. Although I consider Gamboa the most talented out of the 4. Dawson has the potential to be the bigger star than any of those 3 because he is still young and undefeated. Linares is fighting in a division that's not lucrative, also Dawson is very flashy and exciting, something that will draw in fans.

I THINK HE LOST TO ronald barrera......a journeyman gave a supposed near P4P hell(or P4P according to CRold.....) and shouldve beaten him.......juan esquer(a guy who has lost in every step up also gave him a scare)

I have to tell you... Glen Johnson kicked his ass pretty bad for him to be considered the future of the sport. He outlanded him, but that was a really ugly decision win for Chad Dawson that a lot of people disputed.

It's not good when you have to roll the dice on the judges appreciating your volume of punches over his less frequent, but a lot more effective punches. I would have been scared as hell if I was Dawson and had to wait for the judges decision in that fight.

pfft everyone who knows chad dawson knows he was an idiot that night...he tried to bomb away johnson early...if they fight again, chad wins 9 rounds.....

glen is overrated.....his one great win is a gift over tarver....he also struggled with woods in their last fight(officially lost, even if half the people think he won).....

tarver is a problem for chad though..especially since i think chads jaw sucks...

on another note....i was just watching tarver vs hopkins again....man tarver has a way of evading punches with his eyes closed its unbelievable...if he actually LOOKED good while defending, people would actually notice his defense is so good(for evading clean punches anyway...)but nah the guy flails around so much that it looks like he's getting pummeled...

Not to be a total fanboy, but... as usual, I agree with pretty much everything.

I thought Tarver clearly beat Johnson both times.
I think Tarver is going to beat Dawson, and actually pretty handily too, whether it be because he intimidates Dawson with the power of his left, or gets him out of there with a few good shots.
And yes, Tarver's defense is the reason he has gotten so far. He did an excellent job of defense in both Johnson fights for sure.

If Tarver catches Dawson directly on the chin with his hard straight left, then maybe he can get something done. We all know that Dawson has the better boxing ability, handspeed, and is the better on both outside and inside so Tarver out boxing him is highly unlikely. Dawson has done much better in technical boxing matches than Tarver has as well. Tarver can be out boxed becuase of his one dimensional style. Tarver is a good pick though. He has a better chin and more experience.

I personally thought that Johnson beat Tarver in the first fight by 2 points but scored the second fight a point for Tarver. Both fights were razor thin.

As for my prediction on the fight, Dawson beats Tarver by unanimous decision. Simply too young, too strong and is the fresher fighter. Tarver has been on old legs in his recent fights and Dawson has too much energy. I figure since he was hit so often in his fight with Johnson, then he will be more smarter this time around and will not go in there looking for the knockout early becuase he would be giving Tarver his chances.

I figure he will get his jab working early, do some good body work and systematically break Tarver down and put his punches together late and maybe get a stoppage there. This is a fight that he has been wanting for years so i am thinking that he will take full advantage of this opportunity.
